I was able to install a regular copy of WinXP-SP2 when I had a AAO-8G.
Nothing special done during the installation process itself. Just boot from the WindowsXP installation CD and follow the usual instructions until done. Just make sure the disk format is FAT32 which improves performance.
Only downside of the AAO-8G is the slow SSD, it takes hours to finish installing an AAO-8G complete with apps like OpenOffice, Firefox, etc.
As for tweaks to make WinXP run faster on the AAO-8G, just google them.
BTW, I strongly suggest using a SD-Card (8 or 16gb, class6) to hold the applications to minimize the load on the slow SSD.
