Overclocking Q & A Section

  • Good pm! need help on overclocking my Computer. I currently have:
    Ryzen 5 1600
    Asus strix B350 f gaming
    8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400mhz
    Galax GTX 1060 6GB
    FSP Raider 550w

All of them are running on stock.

Want to OC my Ryzen 5 to 3.6 but i don't know how to set up the voltage, afraid too try and raise the voltage without asking any advise, and my ram is not running at its advertised speed, should be at 2400MHz but instead it's running at 2133MHz. Tried inputting the timings but i don't know which is which. Just want a mild OC dont really want to increase the clock to the point that it would double the heat of my computer, as it gets hot in my room during summer.
And can i overclock the ram without overclocking my CPU and Vice-versa?
And can anyone tell if this PSU is good? As this is my first time trying it.
Here are some additional screenshots from the BIOS

BTW i also have the latest bios version.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Guys,

So I overclocked my 7700k to 4.8GHz using manual voltage: 1.225 in UEFI (XMP profile also enabled to attain 3200MHz)

    Manual Voltage: 1.225
    C States: Disabled
    SVID: Disabled

Good enough na kayo ito for 24/7 usage? And what settings should I tweak pa?

Stress tested using Aida64 (Pls refer below), FireStrike stress tested, TimeSpy stress tested, ran Unigine Valley for 3 hrs and no crashes at all. I also played some games (Battlefield 1, Overwatch, Mass Effect: Andromeda)

    Specs for reference:
    Proc: i7 7700k
Cooling Solution: Corsair H100i v2 (Rad fans changed to Corsair ML120)
    RAM: G.Skill Trident Z (3200Mhz, 16GB/x2 8GB)
    Mobo: Asus Strix Z270e

    Made some updates:

    Adaptive mode
    Vcore: 1.225
    AC DC: 0.01
    LLC: Level 4

Needed to set the LLC to Level 4 as I encountered crash/BSOD in Adaptive mode upon Aida64 stress test.

  • Question lang mga OC masters.

  • @zwischenzug

  • ^Thanks sir.

By the way, ano pala gamit niyo for stability test when you OC CPU, GPU, memory and all?

  • @zwischenzug

For CPU and memory stability testing, gamit ko is Prime95 version 29.1 build 14. Yung ginagawa ko lang is run Prime95 Blend then iwanan ko siya running for half a day to overnight. Just make sure lang na mataas ang fan speeds or keep the side panel open para hindi kulangin sa cooling. Kung after 4-6 hours or more at wala naman dropped na threads, to me that is stable enough for 24/7 use.

I fall asleep mid-way during testing hehe... What I suggest is run the stress test, watch maybe 1-2 movies on the side and check the temps of the PC every so often.

Sa videocard naman, I did not overclock the GPU at all kasi medyo sagad narin yung Sapphire NITRO+ RX 580 and I think hindi na siya worth overclocking further. I want them to last as long as possible.

This is a very good guide for stability testing sa Prime95: <click here for link> but yung gamit ko lang na monitoring tool is HWiNFO64 and not Core Temp.
  • ^Thanks sir!
  • Hi All,

pahelp naman i undervolt si R5 3600. Using Ryzen master naka OC sya 4.2ghz and undervolt to 1.2v ginaya ko lang sa youtube. Stable naman sya.

Idle temp is 36-38c pag full load 80c and above.

    My build

    MOBO: MSI x570 gaming plus
    RAM: 16gb 3200mhz ram
    PSU: seasonic 650 gold
    GPU: rtx 2060 gaming z
    Cooler: Byski 240mm
    Case: coolman robin 2

Currently at 4.2ghz @ 1.31v
