Hi,
Thanks!

PNY XLR8 CS3030 500GB M.2 NVMe
Samsung 860 EVO M.2 500GB
Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 250GB
Ano kaya dito ipalit ko sa old ssd(barracuda)?

Ang init pala ng 970 EVO Plus. 53C idle pa lang.
Malayong mas malamig yung Intel 660p at ADATA XPG 8200SX Pro.

I dunno man. Mainit talaga yung idle temps ng made in Thailand na Samsung 970 EVO 2TB ko. Something must have changed or dahil mas mainit talaga yung 2TB. Nasa low 50's ang idle at around 60's range pag may heavy load.
Using the same m.2 slot and heatsink, yung ADATA at Intel NVMe drives, nasa low to mid 40's lang.
Hindi naman big deal sa akin as long as it works as it should.

I'll be using a Samsung 980 pro (pcie 4.0) as my OS drive soon. Ok lang ba without active cooling and just with the mobo nvme heatsink? What temps should I be expecting?

If hindi gen4 ang Motherboard mo I think you will be fine.

Hoping na yung fans ng NH-D15 makatulong to lower the temps.
Edit: Mataas pala fan nya, so baka sa 2nd nvme slot at the bottom ko na lang ilagay, and put a 140mm side fan blowing towards it.

Sandisk Ultra 1TB as a Steam drive good for P5,500? Much cheaper kasi than other TLC choices like the 860 Evo, WD Blue, and MX500.
I'm looking at 2.5" drives now because both my M.2 slots are used now.

if the review is correct PNY 1TB XLR8 is better, higher TBW and faster read and write, DDR4 cache. sa price na lang siguro magkakatalo yan.

Had a Kingston mS200 60GB mSATA SSD on my X220, lasted roughly 5 years.
Replaced it and the HDD with a 2.5" Crucial MX500 SSD.
Upgraded sister's X220 last year, used a Transcend 128GB mSATA SSD.
Cannot make any recommendations regarding the cheaper ones.
Samsung is too expensive. Kingston might be affordable.

TIA!

Anong pong operating temps nyang PM981 mo? Napansin ko kasi sa isang client ko na bumili ng HP Notebook 14s and PM981 din gamit ng model na yun and medyo mataas talaga temps nung PM981 256gb. In fact, yun isang unit na-corrupt yung Windows 10 and nirestore ko lang by creating an image from another unit.

The only way to know kung hardware issue na yan is to clone the SSD to a new SSD. If the problem persists then it is a Windows or game-related issue kung nawala with a cloned-SSD then it could really be faulty SSD na.

Update on this: Turns out sira na yung motherboard ko. Nagloko din yung 970 evo ko on both M.2 Slots. Tried my backup motherboard and both works well.

Oh well, at least hindi naging worse. lol
