The PSU Thread: New Products and Reviews

  • Magandang gabi. Question lang po sa mga Corsair AX Series user, I recently upgraded from GS600 to AX760; wala namang problema pero may isang bagay lang na bago sakin at hindi ko sigurado kung normal ba.

ON yung power from outlet. Pero ngaoyn kahit naka-OFF nakasindi padin siya then after maybe 30secs to a minute saka sila namamatay(Parang ung usual behavior ng led lit sa Monitor power indicator.) normal ba to?

Yup that's normal sir. Even if i-power off mo ang PSU, as in completely unplugged from wall outlet, may residual power pa nasa PSU. So makikita mo yung LED lights ng motherboard naka on parin but will slowly fade and turn off pag wala ng power. Yung 30 seconds time matagal na yun... ibig sabihin tagal ng hold up time ng AX760 :-)

Yay nice to know salamat, ngayon ko lang kasi naexperience ever kinabahan ako heheh.

Ano po review niyo sa Corsair VS650?

Ano po review niyo sa Corsair VS650?

Ok naman ang Corsair VS650 at based siya sa decent na OEM manufacturer (CWT - Channel Well Technologies). Ang efficiency niya is 80 Plus only pero hindi Bronze certified at yung voltage regulation niya is just average. In general mga entry-level Corsair PSU's are very reliable at hindi naman sirain as long as you don't abuse or overload the PSU. Also kahit lower tier OEM ang gamit nila, yung Corsair units dumadaan sa better Q&A and testing and sometimes pinapalitan nila yung parts for better reliability.

For the same price also consider these PSU models:

    Seasonic SS-600BT ECO Series 600W 80Plus Bronze = Php 2500
    Seasonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze = Php 2600

Yung warranty niya is 3 years only due to some components used are slightly lower quality.

Kung hindi masyado mataas yung power requirements ng PC mo the Seasonic S12II 520W is also a good choice. Meron siyang 5 year warranty which is worth the higher price.

  • PSU Dust Experiement <click here for link>

I will now take a power supply which was destined for the scrap heap, pack it with dust and lint, and load it up to 350W. The aim of this experiment is to see whether a flaring transistor can really ignite dust. The power supply used for this experiment is a Thermal Master TM-420-PMSR – a popular unit for budget PC builds, as well as for repairs on older PCs. I have found that, under normal circumstances, this power supply is capable of up to 350W, but will explode when loaded to the labelled 420W.

(Skip to 2:10 for the fun part)

*Note wala ako materials for sleeving and ipapasleeve ko lang din.

    proc: i5-6600k
    mobo: gigabyte z170n gaming
    ram: g.skill ripjaws v 8gb 2400
    hdd: 320gb WD blue
    case: thermaltake v1
    gpu: palit gtx 650 1gb ddr5

for this itx build mas ok ba modular psu or kahit hindi na?
  • @sepsuwee08

For your build yung Seasonic M12II EVO 520W model or 620W model is a good match. Go for the 620W model para may allowance pa for future upgrades :-)
  • @sleepygeepy - Thanks sir!
  • @nicdsgn

    Seasonic 750 X series

ok naman siya mga ilang months na, then suddenly lately nag o on naman siya mga ilang minutes lang of browsing or idle playing music, nag off na yung monitor tapos yung music mo nag hang na
parang annoying sound, pero yung cpu fans still running. kelangan i manually off or pindutin yung power para mamatay.

    Thanks!
  • Mga paps question lang po. Pag ba halimbawa 750w yung psu ko ganung kalaki agad yung hugot nya sa kuryente, or is it based on the load?
Based kase sa nababasa ko okay na ung 620w sa gagawin kong setup pero I am thinking na mag 700w+ para may allowance.

    Thanks
  • @azelkish

Yep! Basically yung 750W ay rating kung hanggang gaano kalaki ang pwede nya mahatak sa socket to supply the PC but the actual consumption is still based on the load :D
  • ok lang kaya yung corsair vs450 will run 5 fans..or dagdag ako ng budget para sa mas magandang psu? if ever 2200 max budget for psu..pang movies at dota 2 lang..ty

    @sleepygeepy

bossing, tingin nyo hanggang anung specs ang kaya netong Seasonic M12II EVO 520W, just give an idea sameng mga noobies.

    Thanks!
  • @getside10

kahit yung eco series 500w lang noh sir?salamat
  • @IronMangInasal
bossing, tingin nyo hanggang anung specs ang kaya netong Seasonic M12II EVO 520W, just give an idea sameng mga noobies.

Kung isasagad mo yung capability ng Seasonic M12II EVO 520W kaya niya ang Core i7 paired with single GTX 980 Ti ~ R9 390X (even overclocked). Pero hindi siya advisable kasi nasa more than 480 watts na yung load sa PSU which is more than 92% ng capacity niya.

Yung ideal load sa Seasonic M12II EVO 520W is around 250 watts ~ 350 watts which is about 50% ~ 60% capacity. Kung ako ang mag-recommend, pwede sa kaniya ang Core i5, Core i7, or FX-8350 processor paired with any of these videocards:

    - single GTX 970 or GTX 980
    - single R9 Fury or R9 380X

Kung plan mo i-overclock ang CPU and / or GPU better go with a lower spec videocard para safe :-)
  • Magkano cheapest modular ngayon? 500 to 600 watts. Thanks!
