The PSU Thread: New Products and Reviews

  • @dino

Yes. And be sure to get a good one that's 80plus certified.
  • thanks,

    i have my eyes set on a seasonic s12II 520w 80+ bronze

my components are all in the midrange spectrum and i don't need a higher wattage psu.

Dont mind the 80 PLUS rating since the testing procedure is done at a room temperature of 23 C

Just check PSU reviews at Hard OCP and Jonny Guru. Avoid PSU reviews that use PC's as load

  • just got a seasonic s12 II 520w 80+ bronze yesterday...

gonna have an enjoyable long weekend playing WOT non-stop! ;-)

w/ my previous 3+ year old corsair vs550 w/c was dying, the game would crash every other match coz the 12v rail would drop to 11.6v. normal desktop usage was fine though but di na kaya pag heavy gaming!

didn't read any reviews until after i got yesterday but jhonny guru gave it very high marks!

hope it lasts for 5 years!

My Corsair HX 620 watts is 7 years old now. It was made by Seasonic

I used it to power mid-range gaming PC's in its 1st 5 years. In its 6th year up to present, it powers a Core i7 4790K + GeForce GTX 970

Recently tested my PSU with a Core i7 4790K + GeForce GTX 1080. It ran the latest games without problem

I bought my Corsair HX620 last Mar 2008, and still kicking. I used this in 3 diff setup and latest is 3770 + HD7850, almost 24/7 since I don't have the habit of turning off my pc if I don't use it. I remember using it before on folding too, no problem paren naman until now, but I already have the plan of upgrading it to Seasonic Plat P660, since I might put this to my kids' PC.

No sir. There are a ton of non-certified PSU out there. Seasonic Eco, FSP Hexa, and Corsair VS psu are non-certified but are based on double-forward topologies that easily pass 80+ certification. But most non-80+ certified psu out there are based on half-bridge topologies and lack requisite protections.

Dont mind the 80 PLUS rating since the testing procedure is done at a room temperature of 23 C

While this may be true, most psu that go out for 80+ certification are still built better (and use better designs) than crap psu that are out there that have zero chance of passing 80+ testing. But even among the psu that pass 80+ certification, there are indeed still some bad eggs.

This much is true. We should all endeavor to do our homework before spending our hard-earned cash on a possible lemon.
  • my corsair VS 550w served me for 3+ years... almost going on 4.

sulit na rin seguro coz it only cost me 2.2k

actually it will still do ok in an ofc rig... but not for gaming anymore!

Lahat ng PSU nila base on CWT Platform be aware lang may mag model sila na may Peak/True Rated like DE500 350W lang True Rated nya at 500W ang Peak if you asking if this unit deliver 500W the answer is Yes but in short time period only

  • FSP Hexa 500 still ok after 4+ years. But as I'm looking at the RX 470 plus 4 hard drives, 3 fans and an AM4 Zen in the future, I'm considering a Seasonic S12 520 or 620 to replace it, as I'm aware of possible capacitor degradation over time.

  • Guys stupid question...

  • @chekot

    Amd a8
    500gb
    4gb ddr3

planning on purchasing a 2nd hand AX860, out of shop warranty na eh
Or buy a brand new CS650 na lang?
  • ^ Go brand new. Recenyly purchased an SF600. Wala pa 24 hours, deads na. This does not mean na di maganda Corsair. Nakatyempo lang talaga ng lemon. Anyways, mabilis pagbalik sa shop kaso i ended up not wanting it anymore. Maybe next time Corsair.

Otherwise, id recommend yung Seasonic Eco which is twice your budget.
  • Can anyone suggest a good PSU for my upcoming build, came from a Seasonic M12II520W
    My pc specs
    6700K
    Maximus 8 Ranger
    8gb DDR4 3200
    240gb SSD
    H110i GT AIO Cooler
    1080p monitor 60Hz
    Possible RX 480 8gb

Ok na ba ung RM850? Or X850? Planning to do crossfire in the future or possible 1070 thanks
  • @vandread21

maganda ang RM series ng Corsair. 80PLUS Gold rated! pero go for 850 watts na kung balak mong nang crossfire or SLI.
