The PSU Thread: New Products and Reviews

  • @sleepygeepy
Ok, will consider the Platinum. Now, for my Rig, powered with i5 7400 + GTX 1080, 2HDDs and 1SSD, How much wattage do I need for these?

Future plan? I don't have any plans upgrading my GPU (I think, up to 2 years) but I am looking forward for the Ryzen 2700X.

anyare sa seasonic? yung g650 ko dead na after 102hrs of using base sa hdd sentinel. refurbished na bnew condition from japan reliable naman yung seller nito dito sa tpc kaso 1 week warranty lang, though mura ko lang nabili at nagtiwala ako dahil seasonic na tatagal ayun lalo pa napagastos. may question is mag seasonic pa din kaya ako? im eyeing sa focus+ gold na 650 na may 10yrs warranty im considering also yung tx650m gold ni corsair almost the same price. im just using 1070 and i5 8400 sobra ba or yung 550w version is enough na? thanks

I guess this is the sign for me avoiding the owltech units.

For your PC I would suggest getting a Seasonic 650W unit and that should be enough for your CPU + a future GPU upgrade. That is assuming your GPU upgrade is within GTX 1080 - GTX 1080 Ti levels of power consumption.

I don't have any plans upgrading my GPU (I think, up to 2 years) but I am looking forward for the Ryzen 2700X.

If you plan to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 2700X and maybe pair it with a high-end videocard like the level of a GTX 1080 Ti, then 650W should still be adequate. But I would be more comfortable bumping up to a 750W PSU since the Ryzen 7 2700X can consume 140 watts of power under heavy load.

Eto yung sagot sa problema mo paps:

refurbished na bnew condition from japan
  • parang bago pa tlga yung unit kala ko tatagal. i thought nung una mobo sira sana yun na lang at may outright warranty sana. pero jinump start ko using paper clip method and 1 fan hub nakaconnect lahat ng fan dun pero hindi man lang nagspin or umilaw mga fans. walang sign na masisira basta nagshut down lang pc, then chineck ko lahat cables mga twice pa sumindi pero namatay din. saklap! lesson wag na magtipid mahalaga talaga warranty.

    +1 lalo na sa PSU
  • @cyclode

nachambahan ka lang din ng lemon. lahat ng second hand items naman may risk. nobody is to blame but yourself in reality. I have experienced the same thing as well pero hindi psu but just the same, second hand item.
  • Decided to get the Focus Plus of Seasonic but im torn which of the variant should I get.

    Gold or Plat?
    650W or 750W?
  • out of stock pa sa cheapest 4750 yung 650fx, baka sa suking tindahan na lang ako 5150, syang kasi yung 400 :) or pwede na kya sa akin yung 550fx pang gtx 1070 and i5 8400 lang naman
  • @zyxer

gold - 750. di mo mararamdaman sa electric bill mo difference niyan.
  • ang hirap maghanap ng 650fx nilibot ko na buong gilmore, may nagiisang store na meron incoming hinhintay ko pa ang abiso today kung dumating na stock. i managed to reserve the item with DP, sana lang may dumating.
  • Kung out of stock ang Seasonic Focus+ Gold SSR-650FX... consider paying slightly more and get the 750W model (SSR-750FX). Prices between the higher capacity models are not that big and sometimes the money you save by waiting weeks or a month for stock to arrive is not worth it.

For example from one trusted seller...

    Php 4,800 = Seasonic Focus+ 650FX 650watts 80+ Gold full modular (baseline cost)
    Php 5,350 = Seasonic Focus+ 750FX 750watts 80+ Gold full modular (Php 550 more expensive) *
    Php 5,850 = Seasonic Focus+ 650PX 650watts 80+ Platinum full modular (Php 1,050 more expensive)

    * With the 750W model you get 100W more capacity, 2 CPU power cables, 2 PCIe power cables with 2-connectors per cable. So sulit narin for the extra Php 550 spent and mas ready ang PSU mo for higher power setups like (kunwari lang) future AMD videocards or future 8-core Intel CPU's, future 12-core / 16-core AMD CPU's etc.

yes pwede na sana sir kaso out of stock din puro prime ang meron pero parang di na justifiable price, pag di dumating stock later ipull out ko na yung dp ko. baka mag 620w na lang na m12ii or yung 550fx kaso caloocan pa yung store.
  • @cyclode

Have you tried other sellers like Kenneth, louie_081475, TechJunction, bugsgunny etc? Look for sellers that do delivery so kung based ka sa Metro Manila area, pwede naman pa-deliver ang PSU then cash on delivery ang transaction. Iwas din sa hassle kasi mabigat din bitbitin ang PSU especially if you are just commuting.

Pero kung sila din walang stock on hand it means nagkaubusan na sa distro / supplier and no choice but to wait or buy a different PSU.

Personally at this point in time, mas prefer ko na mag Seasonic Focus+ Gold even if its the SSR-550FX model compared to getting let's say the M12II-620. Laking bagay kasi yung 10 year warranty it trumps everything hehe.

    Corsair CX600 3540 pesos
    Seasonic S12II 620watts 3230 pesos
    Seasonic M12II Evo 520watts 3520 pesos
    EVGA 600BQ 3540 pesos
    FSP 700watts, PSU, Hyper K 2900 pesos
  • Seasonic S12 620w gets my vote
  • may advantage ba pag modular?
  • @jelojelo

cable management and airflow. depends on the case too.

    RE: Seasonic Warranty (Helix Technologies)
I called them awhile ago, and they confirmed me that they give 10 years warranty for the Focus Plus Series and 12 years warranty for the Prime series.
  • ^ Yes sir. Most true rated psu have a mtbf that starts at 5 years of continuous use. And for units like Seasonic that have a full local coverage, it makes it all the more sweeter.
  • @jelojelo

    may advantage ba pag modular?

At the very least may 5 year warranty so pwede naman palitan kung may defect.

Kapag pinabuo mo ang PC sa shop there is no way to tell kung brand new PSU ang nilagay nila dun.

    How is this possible?
