The PSU Thread: New Products and Reviews

  • Sayang wala nang Johnnyguru.com. T_T

  • Sorry OT, but still power related, I recently bought a STAVOL AVR from a local seller in Lazada. 2000VA (or Wattage, since W = A x V)

mas maganda yung pag correct niya ng voltage vs my Omni servo motor 1000VA AVR. Sa sukat nung isa ko device, si Stavol = 218V - 222V. Compared to my Omni AVR that outputs 233-236V, ine-expect ko, 220V din target nung OMNI, weird lang bakit mid 230's yung voltage niya.

If you have a multimeter and take the time to measure the voltage coming out of the wall outlet, you'll find that the voltage is typically around 235~240v. Your Omni basically just regulates close to the voltages from the wall while your Stavol's transformer likely has much better regulation which not only controls fluctuations but also the output voltage as well - something typical of branded AVR's.

Does this mean that your Omni AVR is bad? Hindi naman. It's just not as good as the good stuff.
  • ^LOL at the jap. Naubo ako sa kakatawa boss Godai :P

thanks for this insight. Though I know this is an uninformed opinion, ito na yung take ko sakanya:
While I do believe this is better compared to the "powerlogic" AVRs or any of those 200-400 peso units that basically does nothing (well, baka gumagana yung fuse breaker nung iba kahit pano), I can only think of it as just that. A better unit to the trash.

Wala, in the future, di nako bibili neto. Oh well, now I know.
Di rin to mura kasi, cheaper than the other branded AVRs, pero asa 3.2k Php din tong Omni. Kaya mejo ang expect ko, regulate niya to 220V.
Next time, dapat may dala ako multimeter or request ko i-test yung voltage output before I buy.
  • My relay-type Izuki AVR is still alive and regulating. Hehehe. Nowhere near a Stavol but way better than the P500 tin cans. Maybe even better than the cheap China-made servos. Hehehe
  • Reviving the thread,

Any feedback on budget bronze PSU?

Both are trash, both have fake "certifications" since wala sila sa 80plus.org database. If you need a budget quality PSU:

    psu, CoolerMaster MWEv2 550W 80+ White - 2300php
    psu, FSP HV PRO 550 80+ Bronze - 2300php

(considering mahirap din for SATA power ports)
  • @ambad4u

The PSU in my Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF (Core i5-4570) has a non-standard connector and only outputs 12V, even the standby voltage (ATX standard is +5V). Power is provided to SATA drives using voltage converters built into the motherboard itself, and a cable harness that has SATA power connectors at the other end.

    I've seen a Prodesk 400 G4 tower (Core i5-6500) with a similar design.

In order to use an Elitedesk PSU with a regular motherboard, you'll need a way to output 5V and 3.3V just like a regular ATX PSU.
  • @awakeruze
so 12v lang talaga those PSU's, and no 5v and 3.3v sources...
    noted...
    salamat!
  • Got this really chunky power cord. 3 meters, 3 x 14AWG.

Yan ang preferred gauge ko for my 2 psus
  • ^ Sent po
  • Ako rin XtraRice, I'd like to know where you got it from!
  • Meron din nyan sa Deeco. Mga power cable for servers and rack mounted UPS doon ako nakabili dati. I used one to replace yung burned out power cable ng WT aircon ko dati with no issues.
  • Question: If my PSU is a Seasonic Focus GX-650 80+ Gold rated.

So I still need a AVR / Servo AVR? Or a simple Extension cord is enough?

The reason i need AVR / Extension Cord cause of 2 reason:

1.) The Main Outlet isn't universal
2.) Only 1 available Outlet to plug to power my whole system

and also, I want my system to be sudden surge, power fluctuation and the likes. You can never be too safe.
  • ^ All you may need is a Panther extension with circuit breaker or surge protector...
  • A good avr na may power on delay. Kahit yung power on delay lang feature lang para sa mga instance na nag on off on yung kuryente.
  • @Sir glenn2k3

Thank you for the feedback, tignan ko yan Panther brand.

    @Sir frankeedoodle

Thank you also for the response, will look for AVR that in our local hardware store like A-Hardware if I can see available AVR with power on delay that fits my allotted budget
  • @LeXafar

Thank you for the feedback, tignan ko yan Panther brand.

  • buhay pa ba si johnny guru? nawala yung website nya about psu,hmm sino kaya pumalit?
  • @axelangel007

AFAIK nasa Corsair si johnnyguru (Jon Gerow IRL) , head ng PSU R&D.
  • @axelangel007

  • Maybe off topic

PSU ko is seasonic gx 750. 3700x paired with rtx 3070. Now im thorn if ill go with the pure sine wave (Cyberpower 1500) or a reputable avr with surge protector would suffice?
  • Combo ng i5 12400F + RTX 3060 for Interior Design and light gaming, ano marerecommend nyo:

    CM MWE v2 650w Bronze
FSP Hydro M Pro 600w Bronze
    FSP Hydro GD Gold 650w
    MSI MAG A650BN Bronze 650w
    Seasonic S12II 620w Bronze

Edit na OT: Also, they require a UPS for each unit and eyeing the CyberPower 1050va. Ito din yung pasok sa budget. May mas okay pa?
