  • Of course measurements matter. That's the main reason why I trust a Stereophile review vs a Whathifi review.

  • After almost a two-month wait...the YAXI stPad 2 earpads have arrived!!! :3

  • Congrats sir!
  • @majingotan

    Thanks Sir! :3
  • Interesting yung SMSL SU-8 sa MD. A balanced DAC with volume function in the remote. I wonder if it has pre-amp. Tempting heheh

  • re: SMSL SU-8 as a preamp. It really depends on the implementation from SMSL. Usually a correct digital volume control costs $2k upwards because it uses hardware and good software implementation.

I took a glimpse at its specs. USB @ 32-bit. Optical @ 24-bit depth. I also see no knobs anywhere meaning volume control may be done in the digital domain.

Thing is, if you control the volume digitally @ 24-bit (optical) you lose bits when you lower then gain. Losing bits = losing musical details. You wouldnt want that. However, 32-bit volume control if USB is the source, it may work. You wont lose bits if you use 16-bit or 24-bit files via digital volume control but im not sure how they implemented it so I wouldnt know for sure. For all I know, it can also be a digitally-controlled voltage attenuator at the analog stage which can work as a preamp but would be inferior to a proper line preamp.

Case in point, my NAD M51 is a 35-bit DAC and is a champion at volume control. In fact, I use it directly connected to my monoblocks from time-to-time. It beats by Violectric V281 in gain tracking. There is no loss of bits because of the headroom NAD implemented in the design.

You see, aside from the subjective reviews of every opinionated audiophiles in the world; this is why I want objective reviews of audio shit before buying. I wanna know what were the considerations and trade-offs of the designer so he/she can pull off the nice sounding gear we wish to have.
  • For 5k or less budget, ano ang pinaka recommended na neckband bluetooth headset? Bumigay na kasi LG hbs-750 ko.

Genre is more on acoustic, jazz, and light rock. :)

By the way, I'm currently using August EP650 pero mainit at pinapawisan ako pag walang aircon so I'm looking for in ears with good battery life.

Sir I saw your email ifs selling v281. Just wondering why it was replaced? I also v281 and v850 combo dac amp but it works great and been using this them daily since day 1. Just wondering kung ano naging sira nung sau.
  • @kyrk

Nagkaron ng popping sound on one side. Nadsicover ko lang when I turned the gain to the max and switched sources. I figured since naka warranty pa naman, why not use that opportunity to have it upgraded? So ayun, pagbalik sakin naka 128-stepped attenuator upgrade na din and the popping noise gone.

Im no longer into headfi paps. I just sold and shipped the V281 today so I am officially out. Swerte ng nakabili 63k lang nakuha, while bnew it would be @ 2900 USD. Sold my headphones na din. My system no longer has any headphone jack of any sorts. Di na ko makikigulo dito ulit hehehe. Good luck sa audio journey guys. Hope you find what yall are looking for in a system.
  • Nice free upgrade hehe. Gudluck sa bagong out of audio journey. Don't forget to share your audio ideas to us hehe
Jackpot
  • i have a swan hivi m100 ung walang bluetooth, questiong lng normal lng ba na umiinit ung sa likod nung main speaker? as in mainit sya.
  • @markjerome11

Sir yung speaker ba na gamit niyo is the active type (i.e., it has a built-in amplifier, doesn't need a power amplifier to sound)?

If so, you might want to check yung specs ng amplifier installed sa Swans niyo. If it's a class A/B amplifier, it's only natural na uminit siya after some time, lalo kung di well ventilated yung area where the speakers are located. Pero it should not be scalding hot na tipong mapapaso/malalapnos ka pag sinubukan mong hawakan.
  • @jaibautista

yes sir nsaloob na mismo yung amplifier. Wala kasi syang aluminum heatsink katulad nung ver 2 na m100mk.

pag hinahawakan ko napapaso ako, bass and treble are set sa gitna lng. volume let say 50%. After mga ilang mins pagpapatugtog sa spotify umiinit na sya as in napapaso ako. Pero sbi nung binilhan ko normal lng daw un and tested nya 4hours continous music okay nman daw.

any inputs sir? ano magandang pdeng gawin?

    salamat

I think your best bet para di masyado mag-init yung speakers is ilagay mo yung speakers in a room na air-conditioned or tapatan mo ng electric fan yung likuran ng speakers para lang mag-dissipate kahit papano yung init.

Kung class A/B nga yung amplifier na gamit dun sa speakers mo, then I think there's nothing you can do. But if it's a class D amplifier then something might be wrong...from what I've read before, class A or A/B amplifiers yung nag-iinit ng sobra-sobra simply because of how its electronics are designed. Another option would be to go back to the store, demo another pair of the same speaker for 30mins-1hour and see if the unit demonstrates the same symptoms. If so, wala ka na nga talagang magagawa about the heat management of the speakers.
  • ^ Always provide your budget.
  • Beats.
Around 4-5k ata yun?

May FiiO Q5 na kay eggy boy. Sana may stock pa. hehe
  • mga paps..

pa-recommend naman po ng IEM, budget is 1500 max. this will be used ng mga instrumentalists sa church kaya di kaya ng pricey.

    salamat po in advance.
  • ^ KZ ZST sir.
  • Get one kapatid por sayans! :3

It is already garnering a few positive feedback in HF <click here for link>. I'd still like to see how it measures. Somebody already confirmed the DAC volume can be adjusted via remote control, so I presume it can act as pre-amp. My hunch is this will sound the same as the DX7s.

salamat sir. any idea how this stacks up with the newer ED16?
  • Ayaw ko na talaga magsalita ng tapos :3
