Help - HP service center too expensive for my laptop repair

  • Hi,

My Sister\'s laptop just died one day. It\'s an HP AMD base laptop bought more than a year in US. We brought it to HP service center in makati and they diagnose it and said the processor needs to be replaced and they are charging us 21,000pesos for the repair. The laptop was bought for 23,000pesos last year and I think its a rip-off to pay 21,000pesos for repair.

Can anyone help me if its possible to have this replaced on a none HP service center in a cheaper price?

    Thanks

  • There are plenty of users here who repair laptops... I couldn\'t suggest any because I don\'t have a laptop and have not availed any of their services. Just search for them and look at their ratings and comments.
  • hehe Holweys Prablematic ba?

    @madho07
Had the same problem with my compaq. Warranty expired a couple of months when the laptop broke. Repair/replacing for the motherboard was almost the price of a new unit.

Had it serviced at DigitalAxis in st francis square. for about 3K. Laptop is still working for over a month now
  • Hehe... HP for High Price

It\'s just that this was not my experience with our IBM laptop before. We had it for more than two year and when it died and need to replace the motherboard. IBM replaced it without cost. And we Tpc people knows a processor does not cost 21,000pesos. Hehe...

Kung 5k to 8k cost baka acceptable pa. This would always remind me not to buy an HP laptop again or even recommend one to a friend or client.

    @leopards
Thanks, I\'ll try to DigitalAxis. After get the laptop from HP and pay 1,100pesos for their diagnostic fee.
  • marami dito sa tipidpc ang nagrerepair ng laptop. try pcmaster_services.
  • or Holdup to Pre...

    Joke.... :)
  • pa tulfo mo
  • We spoke to HP to arrange the pull-out and they generously offered us a 10% discount on the quoted repair cost (21,000pesos). Even with a discount we still decided to pull-out the unit. On the day my sister came to HP service center, she was surprised to see that the unit was already working. The service invoice states that the memory was replaced. Nalilito ako sa HP...! Any way thank you na rin sa mga suggestions nyo and thank you HP???... :)

    balak talaga kayong gulangan hehehe

sir try ninyo po i pcheck yung laptop ninyo. free check up naman saka maybe i can order you a cheaper board.
  • I dropped my HP Mini Netbook, nothing breaks not even a small crack on hinges or casing, but it stopped booting. We brought it to HP Service Center at Buendia, 2 personnels made a quick diagnosis over the counter.

After checking they told us that it is board level repair that costs P31,500. I asked them if it\'s a definite quote since they have not opened it yet and have not seen what could be the real problem, I suggest its maybe just a loose wire or parts connection and maybe their technician can take a look at it first and i\'m willing to pay for labor fee, but not the parts fee of P31,500, since the laptop only costs P21,500. They said THEY ARE SURE ITS BOARD DAMAGE and I have option to buy a new unit instead, approve the repair or bring it somewhere else to fix. I said i\'ll think about it.

We went home puzzled about HP\'s customer service policy and how they did they ever made it as the number one computer company in the world. I dared open the laptop since its out of warranty, and it was just easy, then I saw a loose LCD cable, re-seat the hard disk, and voila! I fixed it.

This is a real experience. Whats the consumer-lesson learned? Disposable brand. Fix it yourself or just patronize other customer-friendly brand.
  • One line that would describe HP computers? - DON\'T BUY THEM.

The company i work in issued each of us a laptop, a 2 year old HP Elitebook 6930p. One of my officemates found that the laptop issued to him had its LCD cracked on the lower right side however. The company now, oddly, blames him for the damage kahit wala naman siya ginawa. The problem is the price they are charging my friend. 40k cash for the repair according to the service center, and 80k if he wants to buy the laptop instead the company told him.

:) hehe
  • Hehehe.. nakakatawa yung dual-layer ha. Anyway, inumpisahan ko tung topic na to at hindi ko man lang na kwento ang pinagkatapusan ng HP laptap namin.

After taking the advice of one the people in this forum, brought my laptop to that good TPC member\'s shop and for 3,500pesos they had the laptop running within 2 weeks and until now working pa sya. Thats 5 months already and I saved about 18,000pesos.

Kaya nung kailangan namin bumili ng mga laptop for our office, ang pinili ko ay yung may local support at hindi HP. Hehehe...

  • Hi, I brought my HP to Hottoyz and naayos nila and until now working pa din. Try to search their address dito sa TPC.

    Thanks
  • meron bang laptop repair shop within Makati/Taguig area?

no power yung Lenovo G460e, good yung power adapter ginamitan ko ng tester..

ang problem is kapag with battery ayaw mag-ON, kapag rekta w/o battery ayaw pa din mag-ON. magkano kaya magagastos for repair?

    Thanks in advance!
