Hi.
I plan to setup (first-time) a home network for my PC, a netbook, a laptop and an ipod itouch.
Connection is a Bayantel 1.5mbps. PC on Windows 7.
Walang network adapter and PC ko. Bibili palang ako.
Most of the time, ako (PC) lang gagamit ng connection.
Bihira ang netbook, laptop & itouch.
Questions:
~May loss of speed ba pag wireless compared sa wired?
Any suggestions will be helpful for a network newbie like me.
Thanks! And more questions to come :)

But, kung maraming walls at floors, I\'d go for MIMO routers kahit N or G basta MIMO.
I go for corega or dlink.
~May loss of speed ba pag wireless compared sa wired? (assuming ako lang mag isa gumagamit)
wired is faster.

aside from the greater range of wifi N, N has higher bandwidth. However since with G, I can already transfer files at ~ 20 mbps, its not gonna bottleneck your 1.5 mbps ISP.
I can get maybe 55 mbps with wired
so you wont notice a difference just by downloading. You need file transfer to max out your G or N connection

Thanks guys.
I bought the DLINK Wireless N 150 Home Router (DIR-600) and the
DLINK Wireless N 150 USB Adapter (DWA-125)
Can anyone give me a \"for dummy\" guide on this one?
I am a first-timmer on networking.
On Windows 7
Thanks.

While we are at it, bakit ang daming version ng wireless N. May 150mpbs, may 300Mbps at Extreme N na hindi ko na alam ang bandwidth.

you must know how to configure the wireless router in order for you to build wireless connection regardless of what is your OS, since different OS or platform..still the same network protocol.
first you have to do is...
setup your WAN connection...(just check the status on the interface if your router and WAN/ISP is connected),
then configure your DHCP server on router..
then next is test your client/PC connection..
then last is configure your security (authentication and encryption).

How did you connect the router to the Bayantel equipment?

1. Network and Sharing Center
2. Change advanced sharing settings
3. Click home and work
-turn on network discovery
-turn on file and printer sharing
-turn on sharing so anyone with network access ....
-Use 128bit encrption
-turn off password protected sharing

^ via ethernet cable.
I\'ve been trying to wirelessly connect the USB adapter and the router.
Pero unsuccessful. I tried WPS (ba yun? yung may \"push button\")

with vanilla windows installation, no. with a software to aid that, yes possible, I think there's a software called connectify that can take role of this work which basically automatically failover to another internet connection you have in case that your main connection fails.

@paul5v [TS]:
6. Hanapin mo yung wireless setup, baguhin mo ang SSID ayon sa iyong gustong WIFI ID at palitan ang password, click apply.
