  Although the lamps market will bring in an estimated thirty-eight billion dollars this year, L.E.D.-bulb makers are already reacting to the spectre of declining sales. One response, echoing the path of incandescents, is the emergence of cheaper bulbs with shorter life spans. Last year, for example, the lighting-industry giant Philips introduced a sixty-watt, ten-thousand-hour L.E.D. that sells for five dollars. But a profusion of new manufacturers, most of them in Asia, has driven cost and quality much lower than that. (California is the only state in the federation with a minimum-longevity standard for L.E.D. lamps—ten thousand hours, effective January 1, 2018.) “You can buy bulbs on eBay that are of such low quality that, when you screw them in, you can actually get a shock,” Hoelzenbein said.   Probably is... not only LED bulbs, but also some stuff that needs batteries which are manufactured at a lowest cost, but not only Philippines or rather poorer consumers rather risk of buying these kinds of low quality products which may leads to certain hazard
  
  Back to Cheaply made LED bulbs... some of them won't last a day let alone the night you purchase it, some would die out because of slight electrical surge but usually the major reason is insects... if any insects gets in to the driver board and they got fried in the process and the bulb too will die out
  
  Unlike some mid to high end brands they know the issue and at least they cover the driver board or rather separate from LED unlike the cheaper ones that the LED and driver are on one board

  More variety, more options - more sales, I suppose (Samsung strategy)
  Can you still find LEDs that cost more than 400Php a piece or more? I mean Philips is now in the market and they sell for less than 300Php each
  Even less than 200Php, too for some E27 standard bulbs.
  My bulbs cost more than 700Php each 6 years ago. I now have low cost GU10s that are more than 2-years old
  
  So far, the more than 6-year old bulbs are still going strong despite being on for more than 8hrs a day (at night)

  store in a cool/dry place (inside a shoe box maybe), magagamit naman kapag may napunding led and walang pamalit.

  so far Narinig ko sa Philips which medyo skeptical ako nito ay
  "You can install the LED tube directly to the existing fixture"
  
  ang alam ko most brands like GES and etc. which is you need to re-wire the fixture which is take out the wiring of Ballast and Starter
  
  sure ko sina GES and Omni na LED tube nila ay Plastic either PP/polymer sourced

  if you interpret that as a typo, when you really mean flourescent na walang mercury then baka nga wala

  Actually even the classic T12/T10 fixtures will work on the T8 LED tube since those three tube diameter sizes are at 1200mm and 600mm in length which are the common length of the tubes
  
  I need to confirm Philips claim of their T8 LED tube design can be attached along with the old fixture wiring since majority of LED Tube brands need to remove the wiring from the ballast and starter and direct the 2 wires (L & N wires)to the LED Tube

  kahit same e27 edison bulb format per ibang brand or even ibang model na same brand e magkaiba ang lumen rating
  
  go to the store and look at the lumen per watt ratings of say GE/phillips vs firefly and GES's 2 year vs 5 year warranty models. Magkaiba sila. I have seen lumen/watt ratings of as low as 60 and as high as 100+. Its also probably the same for led tubes. So compute. Nakasulat naman yun sa box, except for cheap chinese brands

  9w GES LED tube has better lumens (700lm) than the 1-yr 9w GES LED bulb (600lm). But it's much lower than the 2-yr 9w GES bulb with 810lm.
  
  Bagay yung led tube as lighting for the kitchen sink, and placed under the overhead cupboards.

  Mga ilang watts po ba OK para sa poste sa may gate po? mababa lang naman po. Saka na din para sa terrace na ilaw sa may poste.

  ^ok sana yung 13w 1400lm Philips LED buld for P399.75, kayang-kaya ilawan ang outdoors. kaya lang for indoor use lang according sa box and use in open fitting only.

  ^kung upside-down ang pagkakabit ng bulb, look for wide-angle bulbs (mga 270 degrees). yung mga 180 deg na beam angle won't cut it. usually, kapag walang beam angle na naka indicate sa box, mababa lang ang beam angle nila so don't get them.
