  • "If you can't easily move your computer, why are you buying a laptop in the first place?"

i think you would buy a 15" laptop if you couldn't carry around a 50-pound gaming rig. in this case, buying a 4-pound gaming laptop would make sense than hauling your rig around places. hehe

I wouldn't call a 4 pound laptop a gaming laptop IMO. I wouldn't even call a laptop a gaming laptop if it doesn't have an MXM card and is only sporting a BGA card
  • "Gaming" is a relative term.

    different strokes for different folks

my 940mx is sufficient for my games (TW3, D3, Overwatch)
  • Why You Shouldn't Buy a 15-inch Consumer Laptop

i don't mind if it doesn't have any specific component or branding. i'd still buy a 15-inch gaming laptop if its lighter than my gaming desktop and will empower me to play computer games outdoors. hehehe
  • Hello po, may 25k ako dito ngayon, anong specs kaya mabibili nito ? Laptop, anong store kaya tumatanggap ng Credit Card?
  • What I can say is 15" laptop is still practical as desktop replacement specially in my case since I'm working abroad, my laptop weighs around 3kg (laptop itself only) and around 0.8kg Power supply, but I dont really need to carry it that much specially when you have car or will ride a public transpo. Actually it's not that heavy carrying in a backpack, even a grade school carries morethan 5kg of bag nowadays i think even around 10kg of books :D
I'm thinking of buying one kaso first time ko to consider an ASUS laptop. Planning to use it for AUTOCAD, 3D Modelling Software, Frequent gaming (DOTA 2 & PUBG) Here are the specs:

    ASUS ZENBOOK UX430UN

    Intel Core i5-8250U
    NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 2GB
    8GB RAM
    256GB SATA3 M.2 SSD

I'm thinking with the given specs baka mag overheat if I go with the i7 model since isa lang fan nya for cooling. Your thoughts are much appreciated.
  • ^How much is the UX430UN?
  • ^At Villman it is priced around 55k for the i5 and 65k for the i7 8th gen model

Search IFS section. 2018 HP Pavilion 14. Better price with similar spec. 8th Gen. Core i5-8250U.
  • ^Is it available in the Philippines sir?

    Yes.

With this, I opt to buy yung Dell inspiron 13 7370 since mag program lang naman ako .

Eto try mo rin meron din kay V**m** for 43k -> Asus S410UN. Same specs ng UX430UN but mejo mas makapal .
  • The new HP Pavilion 14 has two RAM slots inside (one slot occupied with 8GB DDR4, the other slot is available) so it easy to upgrade to 32GB (2x16GB).

It also has a 2.5" HDD bay available inside so you can still add a 2.5" HDD or 2.5" SSD in the future.
  • Sinong may ganitong laptop model?

    HP NB Pavilion 15-CK066TX

    Processor Intel® Core™ i5-8250U
    Memory 4 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)
Hard Drive 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA; 128 GB SSD
    ODD None
    LCD 15.6" diagonal FHD IPS BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
    Graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
  • Based sa reviews e hindi maganda ung battery life ng 7370 and mabigat siya while ung sa hp naman e hindi din maganda ang xooling kaya kahit naka mx150 e sandali mo lang siya magagamit for light gaming dahil iinit agad.

  • ^Can you recommend any alternative sir
  • ^

    128GB SSD
    4GB RAM
    No DVD RW
    14inch

So mobility, speed tska practical na price.
    Salamat!
  • I just bought an Acer laptop and want to install an SSD and additional RAM.

Better call them first.

Well, Thinkpads have always been expensive compared to most other consumer notebooks. My first laptop was a Thinkpad R61i bought from the US and it lasted me for a long time. It was built like a tank and never broke down; I finally gave it away to someone who needed a laptop. Thinkpads are generally considered as business rather than consumer laptops though, which I guess is one reason why they're expensive.
  • +1 with the thinkpads. the office purchased one in 2004, gang ngayon buhay pa ang animal, as in never tumirik. tinabi na lang dahil luma na daw

  • @KSolomon

    1. Try to feel the air in the exhaust if nafefeel mo na mainit yung hangin na lumalabas then it could be really running in 80°C, kasi normally idle is nasa 40°C or below and hindi mo mafefeel na mainit yung hangin na lumalabas sa exhaust.

    2. Close all application and Open Task Manager and tingnan mo yung CPU Usage it should be only around 0-2% while Idle or 5% maximum usage while idle, if not then try to see what application is running, makikita naman sa task manager kung anong process ang may mataas na CPU usage and it may be the cause of High Temp.

    3. If CPU is idling at 0-5% or no applications is using CPU, and shows 80C sa HWMonitor, and malakas yung fan and mainit yung lumalabas na hangin sa exhaust, then you may need to open the laptop and Repaste. It could be a bad thermal paste specially kung matagal na yung laptop mo.
  • @fanboyonly actually hindi po talaga siya mainit kahit yung hangin sa exhaust. totally normal po yung temp niya and wala pong malakas gumamit ng CPU pero both msi afterburner and hwmonitor sinasabi na 80C siya. Kung ano po yung feel nya nung naka off siya almost no difference pero talagang taas ng reading nila
  • @KSolomon

I think dried na thermal paste ng laptop mo and hindi na optimal yung pagtransfer ng heat sa cooling system ng laptop mo. The reason kaya mataas temp mo and kaya hindi mainit yung hangin na lumalabas sa exhaust mo, since hindi na nga ok yung pagtransfer ng heat sa heatsink ng laptop mo.

Try to repaste and isabay mo na linising yung laptop fans & heatsink.
