Raspberry Pi credit-card sized computer

  • probably the cpu, full cpu time is on php alone.
  • ^
Were you running it on the original Pi, or the Pi 2?
  • tested on all pi 1 with 4 usb ports same with pi 2 and 3

    lahat puro php issue.

please take not that even my 8core atom NAS (currently 6 core only since 2 cores are reserve for openwrt vm) were able to utilize it specially kung nag browse ka ng mga files mo sa webpage nya even on app. But owncloud is more usable in x86 machines than what I experience on rpi.

    experience like

    browsing for files

1-2 second wait per directory browse in x86
10-20 (worst 2 minutes) second wait per directory browse in rpi3 (if youre lucky enough to get rpi stable)

based on directory with 900 files on it.
browsed the files using a external storage (CIFS/SMB) you can also add the performance penalty due to SMB.

  • Thanks for the input on owncloud. I guess the rpi is still not yet powerful enough as a practical platform.
  • may user po ba dito ng daloradius?
  • Why do you want owncloud btw? For Cloud feautures?
  • Sa wakas dumating din ang aking raspberry pi3

  • so glad to found this thread. me and my raspberry pi has been together for 5mos. it runs ubuntu mate 16.04 :) meron ba ditong nakapag project na ng surveilnance system using motioneye application? (not the motioneyeOS)

yes pwedeng pwede :) google it
  • magkano rp3 ngayon at san reputable bumili?
  • You're welcome :) <click here for link>
  • thanks! iba pa yung element14?
  • Mahal sa element14, better get one at RS.

I bought mine noong Aug 7, nadeliver sa opis ko less than a week later :)
  • yes, better go with RS. dalawa na order ko dun. isang rpi2 at rpi3.
  • ganto ba hinahanap mo sir? <click here for link>

Flash games is no go as well. Facebook struggles a bit but usable but dont expect too much about it.

  • question sa mga meron rpi, anung usually project or use niyo nito?

we have a big plasma tv with usb and hdmi connectors at the back, however un built in player niya and even our dvd players hindi kayang i-play un karamihan ng mga movies na nasa desktop namin. so i'm planning to get one of this to act as some sort of media player that can play movies in any format. i know rpi can do this but baka overkill na or this is not how rpi is used or baka meron ibang solution hehe..

    salamat sa papansin :)
  • ^unfortunately even rpi3 is not capable of playing back all formats, kaya lang nya is based on h264 format kahit 1080p kakayanin, pero kahit naman siguro yung built in media player sa TV mo kakayanin yan. This is due to built-in hardware h264 decoder ng rpi. kahit quad core pa yang rpi3 di kakayanin lalo na yung HEVC at Hi10p.

what I tested sp far is:

    it can play:

    - h264 based video at 1080p or lower
    - xvid based video at 480p or lower (can play 720p pero may frame drops lalo na kung yung bitrate ng video is very high)
    - rmvb at 720p or lower

    it cant play:

    - hi10p , very laggy in software mode but in hardware mode the video gets corrupted output (artifacting)
    - hevc not playable, parang 1 frame per 10second ang peg.

hindi ko specified yung mga file extension ng mga video (eg mkv, avi, etccc) since they are only containers that holds video and audio, ang mahalaga dyan kung anong codec yung gagamitin ng video to play.

if you want to play all videos, just buy a compute stick, at least it can play all videos just fine. although I use a Intel NUC with Intel Core i5 mobile processor inside and it can play all videos in software mode just fine.
  • I dont know kung may hardware acceleration ang pi. Baka mas mabuti pang bumili ka nung mga cheap android tv box or china tablet na may video out. Install mxplayer and supporting codec, or vlc na lang.
  • ^even the current flagship android and ios phones still cant play hi10p and HEVC videos, as of now it can only be played on x86 machine with respectable specifications. Of course you can install a app that can enable that but it was damn too slow to be usable and probably will take too much battery life out of it.

so far ang meron pa lang hardware accelerated hevc/h265 decoder is yung mga graphics card ng AMD with RX series and latest GTX 1000 series of nvidia. Everything else it needs to be done via CPU.
  • I dumped using Pi for that purpose, I got Nvidia Shield TV and it is fking awesome!
  • Rhapsofos
Meron ka bang mga hevc at hi10p videos? Mahilig ka ba sa anime? Yung eken ko with allwinner chip may hardware acceleration ng h.264 up to 4k kaya.

  • Did I mention i got the eken for 1,500?
