Kalayaan Island (Spratly) / West Philippine Sea - AFP***

  • lets be thankful sa binigay ng IDF. although kung ako gusto ko yung Nakpadon or Namer sana yung ibinigay pero its too much na yun. ^_^
  • even if its not rpg resistant and is flammable after an RPG hit, its still very useful since its a heck of a lot better than standing out in the open, limited ang numbers ng RPG (IED is another story) ng kalaban and lalo ata rare ang 50 cal sa kalaban. I think, not sure

  • Iraq has received the first 5 of 24 T-50IQ light combat aircraft it ordered from KAI of South Korea. Although designated as T-50IQ, the aircraft are actually based on the FA-50 variant. The procurement is valued at US$1.1 billion or US$45 million each.

45M USD each? So the PAF's FA-50s were cheaper at 30M USD each sir?

Because of the extent of the ILS and training package. The IQAF is rebuilding almost from scratch, training of new pilots, ground crew and maintenance crew are more extensive.

there appears to actually be a good reason why European countries and even israel never adopted the A-10 or a similar aircraft, even when faced with the same threat - lots of tanks

and since the philippines does not face a tank invasion, it seems to be even more unsuitable for us
  • US fast-attack submarine docks at Subic Bay
A VIRGINIA-CLASS fast-attack submarine of the US Navy arrived in Subic Bay last Tuesday as part of the Indo-Asia-Pacific deployment, the US Embassy in Manila said on Thursday.
US Navy ships have stopped over Subic Bay in recent months. The USS Texas, one of the most technologically advanced submarines in the world, is the first visitor for 2016.
“Texas conducts a multitude of missions to enhance proficiency of the submarine fleet. It is the second Virginia-class fast-attack submarine commissioned by the US and is operated by some of the Navy’s finest and most well-trained officers and enlisted personnel,” the embassy said.
Master Chief Machinist’s Daniel Kloepfer, Texas’s chief of the boat said “maintaining a forward-deployed nuclear submarine is not an easy task and Subic Bay will allow for some much deserved rest for the crew.”
Texas measures 377 feet long and weighs more than 7,800 tons when submerged. It is capable of executing missions including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare, strike, surveillance and reconnaissance, irregular warfare, mine warfare and shallow water operations. FM

  • buti at pumabor ang SC sa EDCA

  • So far wala pa rin Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) ang ating bansa. Kelan kaya mag-iinvest ang Dept of Defense?
  • Guys sa tingin nyo anong frigate ang mabibili sa 15 billion pesos?

    thats $313 million.

    FRIGATES

    Absalon (Denmark)-$269 million

    Bertholf National Security Cutter-$641 million

    F100 Bazan (Spain)-$600 million

    F105 Cristobal Colon (Spain)-$954 million

    De Zeven Provincien (Netherlands)-$532 million

    FREMM (Franco/Italian)-$745 million

    LCS Freedom-$637 million

    Holland (Netherlands)-$169 million

    LCS Independence-$704 million

    Iver Huitfeldt (Denmark)-$332 millon

    Nansen (Norway)-$557 million

    Sachsen Type 124 (Germany)-$1.06 billion

Valour MEKO A200 (South Africa)-$327 million

    F-22P Zulfiquar (China/Pakistan)-$200 million

caveat on the list since it seems to be a work in progress and by an amateur. One interesting mistake is the holland class. much cheaper than the valour class frigate, same 3000+ ton displacement, but no missle launchers, and its classified as an "offshore patrol vessel"

  • Di ba pedeng instead of 2 brandnew frigs. 1 nalang tapos kuha pa ng dalawang corvette aside dun sa bibigay ng Korea. Tapos kuha pa ng additional cutter. Yung brand new parang lead ship nalang. 3 cutter 3 corvette 2 ssv. Tpos subs naman sunod.
  • Need SAM system.

And i believe the DND is pursuing additional similar vessels.

  • Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said if elected president, he is willing to share the natural resources of the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) with China

I was about to react differently to that until I read this part:
But Duterte's willingness to engage with China does not mean he will compromise the Philippine claim over the West Philippine Sea.

He said when talking with China, he will set a “margin” he will not cross.

“I cannot talk beyond this margin. And my predicate, whether you believe it or not, I’m not forcing you to believe, what you have built there is within our territory. It is illegal," he said.

The statement was received with cheers and applause by the crowd, a gathering of entrepreneurs, students, and corporate leaders.
