  • WD scorpio blue 2.5-inch 160GB - Buhay pa after 5 years and still running.

    Seagate 500GB 7200.12 - Buhay pa after 4 years

WD caviar SE 80GB - Buhay pa after 6 years

Hitachi Deskstar (a.k.a. Deathstar) 250GB - patay after 1.5 years

Toshiba 750GB 2.5-inch HDD - patay na after 2 years

Based ito sa gamit ko 24/7 sa laptop and desktop ko. Usually video conversions ang ginagawa ko sa both laptop and desktop.

  • ave 3 years lang ang life, bumigay na sa akin tatlong 1tb, isang 1.5 at isang 2.0.
    balik seagate muna...
Saka ano topic pag trobuleshoot hdd. salamat

  • in the last 5 years i\'ve had 2 seagate 320GB drives fail and 0 Western Digital Drives fail. my next purchase will be 2x 2 Terabyte Caviar Black drives
  • I\'m looking at two 1tb green drives for storage ng movies, music, pics, etc. Which should I buy, the WD10EURX model or the WD10EZRX?
    TIA!
  • avoid too much vibrations ng mga fans as much as possible limit your fans sa case kasi too much vibration could lead to bad sectors and damage to the platter and magneto resistive head....

imagine that the platter it spinning at 5400rpm or lets say around 7200rpm... clearance from the magneto-resistive head to the platter is lagpas pa sa ga buhok so when vibration is induced there will be a change na kakayod yung magneto resistive head to the platter causing na madage isa or both... and life ng drive depends on how you set-up your rig... you should always consider a lot of factors hindi dahil gusto mo malamig pc mo then you go placing too much fans not considering vibrations induced by these fans...
I have three other wd drives still up and running. Sa Seagate ako may mga Bad experience.
  • how to fix my external wd hdd, nareformat ko na sya kaso pag nagkopya kbps hindi tumataas speed nya
  • 1tb wd green so far ok naman.
Nasiraan na kasi ako ng dalawang 1tb seagate and isang 2tb seagate.
Ok sana madali warranty pero yun bigay nilang certified repaired after 6 months may issues na ulit.
Yun pinaka lumang hdd sakin is freecom 2tb, buffalo 500gb. I bought murang transcend 2tb and adata 2tb for less than 3500php so far so good. Knock on wood :D
I don't trust seagate anymore. So try ko wd naman.
  • Mga Sir yung external WD hard drive niyo walang power? or kinalas niyo tapos nilagaya sa pc pero unallocated or di madetect ng PC..

  • Tried opening the case of the 500GB WD passport k'se balak ko palitan yung board, parang kakaiba s'ya....talagang USB yung saksakan n'ya....or it's just me.......oh well....
  • sken ok na ok nman po ang WD Blue...
  • from my pc in 2008, Seagate Baracuda 160Gb..subjected to brownouts, beatings from frustration, dust and heat..still lives to this day, although I'm not using it anymore medyo mabagal kasi..sa tingin ko pareho lang ang WD at Seagate, it's just preference..pero marami na akong naEncounter na sirang WD karamihan Blues at external drives nila kahit naalagaan..so personally, I shy away from WD.. and HGST..
I just filed a RMA of my 2.5 HGST bought 2013, died 2014, warranty until April..kung di ko nabasa mga RMA forums dito sa TPC di ko rin malalaman mga ganitong bagay lol.
  • hitachi 500gig ko since 2008 alive and kicking
  • from my experience,

since im seagate user since I built my own computer.

    Seagate:
20GB IDE -still working (since 2001)
    40GB IDE - still working (since 2004)
    1TB SATA - still working (since 2011)
2TB SATA - still working (since 2013 and recent drive I also bough this year 2016)

uptime ko sa 20GB IDE is unknown, probably wala pa SMART value for head fly time.

WD 80GB Caviar Blue IDE - failed, too many bad sectors
WD 160GB - failed, slow spin up drive, slow transfer rate
WD 1TB Gteen - actuator failure, stuck up, probably due to intellipark
WD 2TB Green - still working since 2012.

for Samsung, super bad experience, hindi man lang tumatagal ng 1 year yung mga drives nila at sobrang init pa.

Samsung 160GB SATA - failure, too many bad sector
Samsung 250GB SATA - failure, too many bad secotr

  • WD Raptor 74GB (1 on my 4 WD raptor dead)
    year 2003, 14 years of service :)

    Ps:
iwasan lang ang WD Green madaling masira (3 on my WD 2TB green dead after the warranty period)
  • Just to share my experience with WD, mga internal drives ko na WD (Black and Blue) alive pa naman and more than 5 years na, BUT yung WD 1tb ko na portable (USB 3.0) namatay a few days after warranty expired! Great.... Can't recover my files. Replaced with Seagate portable na 1TB, still alive for about 3 years now.
  • I skipped WD and shifted to Toshiba so far more than 3 years na mga ext. hdd ko 1x1tb and 2x2tb yung WD wala pa 1 year deads kaagad narereformat pero di nakokopyahan
  • I've tried them all for more than ten years. Summary of usage:

    - Seagate laptop hdds are less prone to heat damage vs wd
    - Hitachi hdds matagal buhay wag lang mabagsak o laging under excessive heat both desktop and laptop. Kung gaming or other hdd intensive apps, medyo umiikli ang buhay
    - Same goes for toshiba laptop hdds.
    - Firmware issues marami kay seagate to the point na sometimes it renders your hdd soft bricked so make sure you check your hdd firmware kung seagate ka

    - Kapag strictly backup storage lang, wala akong problema sa lahat basta 1) handle with care 2) iwasan mainitan, at 3) silica gel when storing para walang mold build up

    Edit:
5 years na more or less.
