the range will depend on what is between your room and the router. it will also depend on how far you are from the router. 5GHz cannot easily penetrate solid objects.

for example (in my case), the laptop in my room (roughly 8-10 feet away from the router but with a solid concrete wall in between) can pick up 5GHz signal at 88% (as per WirelessNetView). 2.4GHz is at 100%.

sa dining room naman namin, with a clear line of sight sa router, i can get 100% 5GHz signal kahit 20-25 feet away.
  • @azureguy

    ano pala router mo?
  • @silverbullet

4 walls? i wouldn't be so quick to believe that. alam mo naman mga manufacturers, they don't really test in real-world conditions. bare-minimum lang ginagamit nila sa testing, to inflate results. penetrating 4 walls might be possible, but you'd be getting weak signal, slow speeds, and frequent disconnects. hindi kaya 2.4GHz tinutukoy nila? that frequency should have no problems with multiple walls.

    i'm using a Linksys EA6900 AC1900 btw.
TIA.
  • so naayos na ung VoIP. nanggaling ung tech d2 kanina. ang kulang ko lang pala eh di ko nilagyan ng + before all the numbers. ok na sana pero ang masaklap eh company man ung subcontractor tech na dumaan. napansin nya na umaabot ng halos 75 Mbps ang DL speeds ko. naka 1899 go big ako, so up to 50 Mbps lang dapat ang DL speeds ko. hayun, mga 30 minutes after syang umalis eh bagsak sa mga 50 Mbps na lang ang DL speeds ko. nung kaaalis lang nya eh 74+ Mbps pa. hehe bumalik cguro sa cabinet o inereport sa head office. wahaha, lesson learned for me. isasave ko na config ko para di ko kailanganin si tech. btw, di ko na makita ung 1899 go big plan ng globe na 50 Mbps at 600gb ang cap sa site nila.
  • ^yup always back up the config before making changes with your router.
weird last time nag pa dispatch ako natuwa pa nga yung tech na 75mbps nakuha ko.. Sunod pala i'll put a bandwidth cap to 50mbps sa pc ko pag may dadating na tech.
  • @azureguy
cguro yung 2.4ghz ung inaadvertise na nakakapenetrate ng multiple walls.. cguro I'll go with tp link instead..

    @giomangi
lesson learned.. maghintay muna ng sagot dito bago magpapunta ng tech..
  • @unimodem

    @Silverbullet

  • If you guys want to boost the connection, look for a WiFi Mesh. Meron Google WiFi, AirTies WiFi Mesh and TP-Link. Trabaho nila to cover your entire house :)
  • try ko yung tp-link archer c6.. mukhang maganda yung tp-link in terms of hardware and software..
  • Guys i have a prob. Then nakabroadcast naman un old ssid and same pa rin passwords. But still wala pa rin net. Ano kaya problem neto?
  • Hi guys, planning to avail yung unli 50 mbps fiber plan. What to expect kaya in terms of download and upload speed?

Yung current globe ko kasi na unli15 mbps DSL most of the time nasa 14 down 0.3 up.
  • Hi guys, planning to avail yung unli 50 mbps fiber plan. What to expect kaya in terms of download and upload speed?

    around 75Mbps DL, 20Mbps UL

    ymmv
  • @owkeedowkee

50mbps should atleast be like 50 down / 19 up and pings should be 1ms to 3ms

    here's mine

  • @all

leaning to move back to globe kasi mas mura ang 100mbps skanila and bitawan na cable and move to internet tv.
I know magka iba sila techincally and cable wise as per google :)

    1. Ramdam ba difference if vdsl or fiber ang kinabit? given na same DL speed. (katulad ng issue sa disconnection etc)
    2. Kamusta ang mga naka vdsl?
    3. iba ba ang router nila?
    4. May nabasa ako dedicated hotline for fiber lines daw, is it true? what if vdsl lang available and not fiber..

    Maraming salamat
  • 1. Ramdam ba difference if vdsl or fiber ang kinabit? given na same DL speed. (katulad ng issue sa disconnection etc)
I'm on fiber and para sa akin its way more stable kasi wala kang po-problemahin sa SNR, line attenuation, interference and walang issue sa length compared to copper connection. All you need to worry sa fiber is the cable na di dapat ma bend since it fragile at yung Received optical power values mo sa ONU dapat pasok sa reference values. Last time fully nag down ang service ko was on July 2018 since may fiber cut sa area and it was fixed in less than 8 hours

For fiber the ONU provided are the Fiberhome AN5506-04-FS(2.4ghz), Fiberhome AN5506-04-FA(dual band), Huawei HG8145V(dual band), Huawei HG8245H(2.4ghz)
For VDSL modem's there's the Fiberhome HG180(dual band), Huawei HG630(2.4ghz), afaik there's another Huawei VDSL modem not familiar with it.

    4. May nabasa ako dedicated hotline for fiber lines daw, is it true? what if vdsl lang available and not fiber..
I think you're referring to Platinum accounts. Afaik pag 2499 and up yung fiber/vdsl account mo its already considered as a platinum account "daw"(correct me if i'm wrong). But i think even the regular hotline can still help you out with your issue

  • ^ Aside from what unimodem mentioned, yung mga copper-based facilities nila ay saturated na. Kaya ang daming problema with DSL. With fiber-optic, line quality is always 100%. Either putol or may connection, that means hindi ka tatawag dahil bumagal or pa-putol putol connection.

I'm not sure about the Platinum hotline.
  • @unimodem and cevar_blackwing

Maraming salamat sa reply. Napaka informative usually sa ibang topic pag ganyan kahaba tanong wala na reply hehe

Pinipilit sakin ng agent na vdsl is fiber, and ayaw ko naman makipag talo pa kasi baka yun ang info na bigay skanila. So I asked anong modem ibigay for 50mpbs (max avail daw for now sa vdsl, then later upgrade to fiber pag meron.. ang gulo nya hehe) and agent took a pic of modem and ito ay Huawei HG8245H(2.4ghz). I checked the pics sa internet looks like old school same input ng telephone (sorry not technical to know ano tawag), masabi ba natin based dun if fiber nga or vdsl kabit?

Medyo magulo at mahaba ulit. Pasensya mga master
  • Pinipilit sakin ng agent na vdsl is fiber

True to a certain extent since it uses fiber from your home to the nearest cabinet but uses the old, reliable copper from the cabinet to the NOC of the ISP. VDSL just allows much more headroom in terms of download/upload limits but technically its no different from a legacy copper line. And we all know how sensitive copper lines are nowadays since most ISPs refuse to replace/upgrade their copper facilities which makes sense if you'll think about it since all copper lines will most likely be phased out a few years from now anyway.

  • ^

kung parang telepono ung input, vdsl yan

but, based on ung modem model na binigay nya (HG8245H) eto yun <click here for link>

sa ilalim ata ung fiber in nyan

ang advantage ng fiber is walang interference since light sya.. pero meron sya attenuation, SNR, at limitation sa length since may attenuation ang fiber optic cable..
  • ang advantage ng fiber is walang interference since light sya.. pero meron sya attenuation, SNR, at limitation sa length since may attenuation ang fiber optic cable..

Yes, I stand corrected with regarding SNR and attenuation values for fiber. But since it's already fiber, Rx/Tx optical power values are the basis for most measurements to check the quality of our fiber optic connection. That's why Rx/Tx optical power values are in most consumer ONU stats.
  • Good evening po. Salamat
  • Im planning to switch from PLDT dsl to GLOBE fiber unli. What are your feedbacks about Globe fiber? Ok ba siya?
  • ^Between those two, mas reliable si Globe (I have both).
  • ^Between those two, mas reliable si Globe (I have both).

Amen.
