Globe@Home GFiber Broadband Thread

    wew
  • Ano ba maaasahan kong upload speed?

Usually half of your allotted download speed. If not, then around 20 to 40. :/

  • Kind of disappointing about the upload speed, pero ok na din since wala pang alternative dito sa lugar namin. Malapit lang sa amin yung cabinet so hoping for the best.

beg to disagree. misinformed na naman installers. eto yung setup sa condo ko before my globe fiber internet was installed. the black wires are fiber.

Yeah, on the bright side, it always will be better than ADSL's excruciatingly slow upload speed. I was also hoping for PLDT Fibr's symmetrical rates, but alas despite having asked numerous times for three years my location still does not have it. So Globe's VDSL2 offer to me ended up a blessing in disguise.

  • @renzo

PROBLEM DITO SA DAVAO KASI EH PARANG IBANG PLANETA yung mga services dito is not following the instructions of the head office , sa PLDT FIBR ko nga pldt davao insists that plan 1899 20mbps is not equal upload and downlaods kasi 20 dl at 10 ul speed lang talaga , i tried complaining but has fallen on deaf ears tried DTI and NTC offices pero inutil sila

Depende sa location and existing facilities.

  • Okay, this is getting kind of ridiculous. Those on Plan 2499 w/ Static IP, how much are you paying every month? I just saw my bill and it totalled to 3,600+ I am guessing there's VAT somewhere in there again... so ang kinalalabasan diyan pati ba naman ang Static IP may separate VAT?

-- edited by inspirasian on Feb 19 2017, 10:33 PM
  • 2499 all-in lang binabayaran ko per month. Static IP is free for platinum afaik, unless binago nila sa newer plans. I'm on 50 Mbps unlimited.
  • ^
i'm on the new plan 1899, static IP. i'm paying 1899 flat, VAT and static IP fee included.
  • I'm on the newer Plan 2499: 100 Mbps w/ 1 TB volume allocation. It's most probably not Platinum like the older ones. Still, anyone on these newer plans can tell me if even add-ons (static IP) should have VAT? I'm finding it hard to justify paying an extra grand for a plan that already provides me with limited bandwidth.

Without the add-on, they charge me around 2,700+ because of the 12% VAT, which according to one agent is 'normal', but prior to applying the representative at Globe Shangri-La told me I should only be paying a flat 2499 — I made sure to ask about this multiple times on multiple occasions. After entering the contract and receiving my first bill one week later it's almost as if he meant the exact opposite.

(What sucks, even more, is that this is a data-only plan, and the same person from Globe Shangri-La told me the landline is already included in my plan cost.)

Is the Physical connectivity pure Fiber? Or is it going to go through VDSL?
  • @rhizom3

VDSL. Sa condo ako eh. Only newer condominiums have provisions for fiber internet.

Nagising nalang ako then may iilan na websites na pag pinuntahan ko nag deretso sila sa https://broadbandstatus3.globe.com.ph/welcome which shows my data usage; kahit ilang beses ko pumunta sa i-ilang websites palagi dito and deretso no matter what. Google, YouTube, etc. hindi naman apektado.

Akala mo may nasira then kailangan ko lang pala pinduting ang "continue browsing" para mawala 'yun pero wtf what's the point of hijacking the DNS like that?

Pero trying to access the same portal stops working as soon as you press on continue browsing. Oh well.

    Only through calling Globe. (730-1000)
  • Sa mga naka legacy Unlimited plans, meron na ba sa inyo na migrate to the new capped plans? While browsing the web this morning, may lumabas sa browser ko bigla na globe web page stating that I've used 3+gbs of my 10gb daily cap! Mali pa bracket na nilagay nila, dapat 30gb / day kami since plan 2499 kami and dapat ma speed bump kami to 100mbs. Can globe do this w/o any form of notification?
  • Finally, naayos na din since two days ago ang upload speed ko as well as my billing issues after just one credible agent over the phone. Bill went down from 3,600PHP+ to 3,100PHP+. All day naman accurate ang speed readings, and never experienced any slowdowns whatsoever. (Only on 5 GHz network or wired. Walang pag-asa ang 2.4 Ghz network dito; ang dami gumagamit.)

Overall, I'm happy with the service still. I used to be bummed about not being able to avail PLDT FIBR's unlimited and symmetrical results, but never naman ako lumagpas sa 500 GB and more than plenty ang upload speed to send my music over to the cloud. Favourable results din with the CCTV setup at home, pero of course, it's only ever used sa may labas, otherwise for sure mauubos ang 1 TB in no time.

Mukhang kailangan may extra two or three access points dito para magamit ko ang 5 Ghz kahit saan. Meron ba dito gumagamit ng wireless mesh network (AmpliFi, eero, Luma, etc.) with ridiculously thick concrete and brick walls for Globe's VDSL2?

Hindi ako sure, pero more or less ganun siguro.

  • 20 mbps ba static IP na? Or still dynamic? Ano kayang modem ibibigay sakin
  • 20 mbps ba static IP na? Or still dynamic?

Lahat ng new (non-business) plans nila ay dynamic. 770PHP for static IP add-on.
  • for VDSL ba mas lower ping base on your experience kasi i have 1599 atm an DSL plan pero mga 60-90 ung ping sa dota2? also what kind of modem is being issued for 20mbps vdsl? I have TPlink atm
  • Two weeks after getting my plan2499 installed, hanggang ngayun wala pa rin yung nba activation code ko.
