Converge ICT Fiber ISP Thread (never ever hard reset your modem and refer to page 1 for FAQs)

  • Just a friendly reminder... if you were happy with your previous Mbps & you are out of contract consider downgrading to the new plan that has your old Mbps.

Why? Cost savings especially during the creep towards 60 = $1, stagflation & recession.

Back during ADSL & dial-up days the long downloads could be used as a time to go to the bathroom, a meal, cook, housekeeping, etc.
  • @yame, yes po. backwards compatible sila...
  • Was inspected by the installation team today, normal lang ba na hindi sila nagdidrill or is this area by area basis?

Drill to attach cables onto wall... normal

Drill to go through a wall... they may ask you to have your contractor do that.

    > Nung nagpakabit ako kay PLDT ng Fibr nagbutas sila ng maliit sa bahay para maipasok yung cable.

Ideally they should ask before doing so.

    Cable is still best

Converge, ZTE to launch 10Gbps XGS-PON in the Philippines

Converge ICT, the telecommunication service provider in the Philippines, and ZTE plan to launch commercial 10-Gigabit-capable symmetric passive optical network (XGS-PON) infrastructure in South Luzon and the Visayas regions in the archipelagic country by May.

Converge is the first operator to provide residential XGS-PON services in the Philippines. ZTE will cooperate with Converge to expand the commercial range of XGS-PON in the coming years. Currently, ZTE ranks first globally in terms of market share in the customer premises equipment (CPE) segment, according to IHS.

According to a media release, ZTE employed multiple XGS-PON devices with ultra-high bandwidth, such as F8648P and Flex PON technologies, for a smooth evolution from GPON to XGS-PON.

In addition, ZTE has begun its tests on its WiFi 6 ONT and Mesh WiFi products and will provide high-quality and comprehensive XGS PON solutions and products. ZTE’s ONT has a 10 GE downlink port to satisfy users' high-speed access requirements.

"In the future, we will continue to work with ZTE to build a stable and efficient network in the Philippines,” said Ronald G. Brusola, Chief Technology Officer at Converge. “The next few years will be a window period for 10GPON development. We hope to work with ZTE to build a fixed broadband network that everyone can afford.”

“With our 10GPON connectivity up and running, we expect faster and greater things for businesses that utilise this technology,” Jesus Romero, Chief Operations Officer at Converge said. “With our continued partnership with ZTE, we are confident in providing our clients that competitive advantage.”

whoa nasa magkano kaya ang aabutin nyang 10gb im curious
  • @GobiGobi

Try mo Sir Powerline kung makapal yung floot or yung wall nyo.

  • @GobiGobi

    Tenda AC10 v3 (128Mb RAM) Php 999 siya online.
Chinese nga lang firmware/GUI nya, just use Google translate. I tried it to repeat 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signals and still get fast speeds. You can place it near/beside your TV and connect to LAN port.

  • @adamgwap5

7.5k/mo or more as Globe's GFiber Plan 7499 is 1Gbps.

    https://tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=289418&page=296#p12420619

I expect all 10Gbps fiber ISP to offer these speeds once they upgraded their 1Gbps NAP cabinets and the international backbones & inter-island backbones go live.

    - 0.3Gbps @ 499/mo
    - 0.5Gbps @ 999/mo

    Then increments of 0.5Gbps & 1.0Gbps.

Operating expense of fiber is much more lower than DSL and is safer as well.

Fiber cables send data by light while DSL's copper cables send data by power.

    More power = more data.

I disagree. You need to avoid powerline adapters like the plague. They are susceptible to interference and you only use them if you ABSOLUTELY have no choice.
  • @filipinX

nakaka excite kelan kaya yan hehe ready na yung infostructure ko, sana makatotohanan yung presyo

  • @adamgwap5

    PLDT already offers 10Gbps

    Apply ka na. :)

For me, the law of diminishing marginal utility kicks in.

Money better spent buying $CNVRG at near IPO prices.

converge lang ang linya samin dito at so far satisfied na satisfied ako sa converge 2x lang ata ako nag ka problem tapos pag need ko tech support same day na sisite visit na ako
  • Anyone experiencing slow internet @ Marikina area?
  • Wow, just called converge tech support today and I don't know if I'm just lucky with the support agent or what but their customer service has improved.

Context: I'm currently on fiber x 2500 100mbps. I asked if I could upgrade to fiber x 2500 300mbps, but they said I could not without a refresh of the lock in period. I asked instead if I could downgrade to fiber x 1500 100mbps instead then upgrade again, and they said I could and this would not refresh my lock in period :))

This is big brain time boys
  • @Gink that is actually weird, because lahat naman ata dapat nakakuha ng speed boost from last year, nang hindi magkakalockin period.. parang may nabasa ako d2 na nakakuha parin sila speedboost ng hindi nagrequest...

  • @vm_dee_yap

Ang alam ko tlga ung last year na from 100mbps to 300mbps for fiber x 2500 is opt-in and merong refresh ng lockin period
  • @vm_dee_yap

Ah, well baka ganung method din ginawa nila pero last year pa nila ginawa. Yung downgrade muna bago upgrade ulet para walang refresh.

Opt for a mesh system.

Balak po namin mag switch to Converge plan 1500, is it worth it? Or mag downgrade na lang kami to Plan 1699 and reset na naman yung lockin for 24 months?

    1. At least 100Mbps speed okay na.
    2. UNCGNAT or pwede ma remove ang CGNAT, currently naka modify yung PLDT router namin sa 1039 and it works without issues kasi pag naka 1030 e may issue kami sa mga games na nilalaro namin like mataas at random yung ping.
    3. Under 2000 yung bill.
    4. Madaling e modify yung settings ng admin routers like sa current PLDT router namin.
    5. Wala masyadong downtime or issues.

Salamat.
  • ^

If you switch to Converge, forget about unCGNAT. They don't allow it unless you opt for a P700/month static IP add-on which is only eligible for plan 3500.
  • @AhohoBalaTimoJan
Plan 2899 din ako sa PLDT, 500d/500u ang speeds ko pero naka-CGNAT ako.
  • Nagbubuffer parin youtube sa phone at laptop. Five seconds buffer before Ad, then buffer ulet after Ad.

    -- edited by vm_dee_yap on Jun 28 2022, 12:56 AM
  • @vm_dee_yap

Mabilis lahat ng services and streaming sa phone or tv. My tv is using Mi Box S wireless pero smooth.
  • Post deleted #12421451
  • ^hindi siya yung usual na buffering pag mabagal ang connection, kasi after ng initial 5 seconds loading continuous na ang stream at halos ma-load pa nga nya yung half ng video, until magka Ads uli in between.
