Credit Card 101

  • May nagbabayad ba dito ng citi card from bpi online? Gaano katagal ung posting?

Sa akin laging 1 banking day lang pag nagbayad ako between Monday and Thursday.

    Excerpt from Section 23:

Payment through any authorized mode, made to any accredited payment centers of the credit card issuer shall be considered as payment to the credit card issuer made on the same date.

Be mindful, however, of the cut-off time for paying bills.

If the bank/credit card issuer insists on charging a late-payment fee despite paying through an accredited method on the due date (granted you did so before the cut-off time for paying bills), then you should direct them politely to Section 23 of RA 10870.

They are responsive based on my experience.

  • Hi! Question lang sa mga RCBC card holders, may binili kami na appliance via installment sa SM Appliance Center before my cut off and now cut off ko na hindi siya nag reflect and hindi rin nabawasan ang credit limit ko, pero nung day na nag swipe ako nag notify naman thru text and email na nagamit card ko dun na store and yung available credit limit nabawasan ng whole amount, it is just after 3-4days bumalik yung credit limit prang hindi nagbawas. May naka-experience nba ng ganito? What should I do?

some banks are like that, recognized ang installment transaction pero di agad nagrereflect yung charges. kaya minsan after ilang days pa. pero if you'd check the statement nakalagay yung tamang dates.
  • Hello Guys,

BPI CC Holder here and planning to shift bank, what do you prefer or suggest guys?

Savings account in BPI and in order to increase my credit limit they have to hold some amount equal to credit limit.
  • Minsan malapit na mag 12am ako nagbayad pero pumasok parin sa cutoff pero to be sure set a cutoff of 10 paea may allowance incase pangit internet ar brownout.

Salamat sa mga sagot. And yes always paid ahead of time naman ako.
More concerned about the availability of funds. Si citi kasi main card ko for installments. And may promo lang sanang hinahabol. Hehe. So papterminate ko sana ung unang installment and pay it para magamit ung buong limit

    @artie
Bpi also follow the same naman.
  • @jr2,

Nice to see you again here dude BUT sad that your wife has been victimized by what we call as voice phishing also known as "vishing". If those are digital purchases made by scammers nga baka hindi na mavoid ni bank yan since the voucher codes likely have been dispensed already. I've delve into that when I provided assistance (as an IT resource) to our gc of bank scams / credit card fraud victims. Unfortunately, we've proven mahirap maghabol with banks specially if you gave the cvv and/or otp sa scammer. Even with regulators intervention like BSP & NPC, they will just ultimately recommend to sue the bank if you fail to reach an amicable settlement with the bank. For that, pwede mo siguro kasuhan with negligence if you feel that your information have been compromised by the bank.

Other option is try nyo habulin si Shopee through DTI. However, this can be a long shot as well given Shopee might be unable to cancel the orders anymore.
  • ^Madami nang usapin yan about inside jobs made by their employees kaya alam na alam nila bank / credit card details ng mga victims. I'm sure banks have filed cases vs such disgruntled employees. Pero yung mga large scale scams lang nalalaman natin like RCBC Bangladesh CB money laundering and lately, pati BPI have openly acknowledged their officers were involved at least in forging documents regarding the Wirecard incident. These banks will certainly protect their own interest first whichever way favors them of course.
  • Yeah that's for sure.
  • ^Totoo yan budol. Nabiktima na ako nyan a couple of years back and lost my bnew smartphone then in the process. That's related daw to "shock hypnosis" from what I read.

Since lalong lumaganap yan scams nowadays, I treat every bank / credit card calls, emails, text msgs, as in everything as "suspected fraud" specially if its not from the banks official communication channels. That way, I'm more discerning with the truth vs lies.

Btw, more than anything, alalayan mo misis mo. Medyo matindi mental even emotional torture nyan mavictimize depending on ones personality, specially fresh incident pa yan.

  • I had the same scenario before with MBC, pero in my case the card was already requested for termination. I insisted that why is it not terminated immediately prior sa fraudulent transaction at sa ibang lugar pa ginamit diff. sa records ko (grocery use only). Good thing the bank favored my side. :)

    beginner credit card user here

  • Just remember 2 basic rules: when in doubt, never give your OTP, never give your CVV.
  • ^Banks even have reminders about these in their websites and emails, but people still fall for scams where you give away this info.
  • @Peorth

They really tend to jump to these social engineering scams out of fear. In this case should I say out of financial knowledge (banks will protect the consumer just don't be stupid).

Again do not entertain any link or email about your bank (yes at all, just read the content but do not ever click anything). If in doubt refer to the official customer service hotlines. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH WHAT YOU READ ABOUT.

  • Good Am po pano po magbayad ng CC with other banks like CITIBANK and HSBC using bpi online thanks

I have 2 accounts with them na if that matters. I'm planning to get the Complete Cashback Mastercard. Any tips na din po?
  • First year is free anyway. Apply ka na din ng free for life card sa ibang banks para di mo na problemahin annual fees
  • basta ontime magbayad at lagi mo gamit cc mo.
