PLDT Canopy to Ultera FORCED UPGRADE

  • Hi guys,

    May bumisita sa dito na tech people offering to upgrade my canopy to ultera.
    Matagal na din ako nakakreceive ng tawag from homebro pero diko ina-accept yung upgrade dahil
    yung pinsan ko naka ultera pero palpak yung connection.

    Yung canopy ok connection niya nakakalaro ako ng MMORPG NA server.
    Pag local naman maganda din ang ping.

    Tumanggi ako sa mga technician nadumating sabi ko "ayaw ko niyan may capping yan". Sabi nila wala na daw capping, yung last year daw may capping.

    Question: Sino dito recently lang nag upgrade? any feedbacks? thanks :)
  • upgrade is not the same as migrate

    pag na migrate ka sa ultera, uncapped pa rin yung plan mo or at least kung ano yung nasa contrata mo noong naka canopy ka pa, yan pa rin yung experience mo sa ultera.

    upgrade is different thing, for sure yung upgraded plans nila meron monthly capping.
  • Dapat sinabi mo dun Sa tech, "I'll take your word,but you need to show me proof Na unlimited Yung ultera nyo or else if you lied to me, ikaw ididiin Ko for false advertising"
  • Hi All, same experience here. Matagal na nila akong tinatawagan for an appointment and our schedule does not reconcile. Pero today it did. So they visited me just a few minutes ago while I write this.

    My Canopy has been with us for 6 years and we never, as in never ever had problems with it. Some minor, but not related to the reliability ng service. Now they want us to "upgrade" to that Ultera thing. The installers found out na the canopy has been with us for a long time na and we never had issues with it. Upon knowing this, sila na rin mismo nagsabi, and I qoute: "Kayo po, kasi pag nagkaroon ng problema yan, kami rin kasi aawayin nyo". LOL! Apparently, they have their own reservations as well. Kasi sila yung humaharap sa tao. And not all encounters went well.

    So ending, I opted not to avail of the upgrade. Kasi they told me, once it didn't go well, hindi na pwedeng bumalik sa canopy. And another catch...Once nag avail ako, I will again be tied up for 3 years in service. Which was never communicated to me by their Contact Center people when they were trying to set-up an appointment. Personally, I don't have problems with it, kasi napaka reliable ng connection ko dito sa min. Pero I fear na baka magbago ang reliability pag pinalitan (if it ain't broke dont fix it).

    I welcome the technology. Kaso I do not know how reliable it is (walang forever! LOL!). Is it worth it?

    What is lacking here? PLDT is not educating their customers to get buy-in! I mean you just cannot "force upgrade" without informing the customers what's in it for them! The contact center I spoke to last time told me phased out na raw canopy and that mawawalan daw ako ng signal. I say BS! Gagawin ka pang engot e. Tsk..tsk..

    Anyways, tatambay muna ako sa main ultera forum to educate my self about it.

    I recently needed my Canopy fixed.
    Dumating mga tech at may dalang mga Ultera kits to replace my equipment.
    Sinabihan ko silang wag na wag papakialaman yung mgaq connections ko para palitan yung Canopy ng Ultera. So far they have been very compliant.

    Mamaya follow-up appointment ko with the tech to have my Canopy finally fixed.
  • May tumawag din sakin kahapon imigrate daw yung canopy ko to ultera. dati pa ko tinatawagan ayaw ko lang pumayag kasi ang alam ko nga may capping monthly ang ultera.

    Tinanong ko kung anong limit nung ultera nila na ipapalit sabi nila unli pa din daw. nireplayan ko sabi ko medyo malabo yun kasi and alam ko may limit ang ultera. pinatawag nila ako sa hotline to verify. upon verifying, and sabi ng customer support same pa rin speed ko and unlimited pa rin kahit ilipat ako sa ultera iaalign daw existing plan ko.

    Kaya pumayag na ko i migrate ako sa ultera kasi nagkakaproblem na din ako sa canopy medyo palyado na yung POE adapter wala naman sila pang replace. Nag check din ako sa website ni pldt nakaindicate nga dun na unli pa din connection for exisiting wimax and canopy subscriber. so far ok naman connection umaabot ako near 2mbps.

    I monitor ko kung ok pa rin speed nila in the following month.

  • Any updates po dito? for migration na din po kasi yung amin.. nagdadalawang isip pa rin po ako.
  • Sorry for the noob question, pero ano mga sir yung canopy? Currently on plan 999dsl at mag pa fiber sana kami kaso wala na daw slot. Kung ok sana pa migrate na lang sa ultera no cap at 15mbps na katumbas ng plan namin ngayon.
  • dalawang araw nang walang makuhang signal ang wimax namin. dito ako sa malagasang imus cavite. tumawag ako sa pldt. as per pldt, end of support na ang wimax at canopy. hindi na daw nila puwedeng irepair. kaya mukhang forced upgrade na ako sa ultera. sabi din ni pldt, walang re-contract. puwede ko daw ipa terminate kapag hindi daw ako satisfied sa service.

    may naka wimax pa ba ito? kumusta ang wimax niyo?

  • Happened to me back in 2013, smartbro pa that time.. 1mbps plan 999... With capping..

    Dec din that time, free naman ang pagpalit, ang sinabi sa akin na issue is..

    Madali ihack ang canopy...( yung may antenna sa bubong na nakatubo)..
    And madali daw matumba if malakas na hangin, so unsafe..

    Ok pa rin naman siya, no prob sa akin hanggang dec 29..

    Kumuha na kasi ako ng bahay last 2015, eto nangyari.. Tumawag ako sa smart para ilipat. Eh wala daw sila service sa part na yun. So tumawag ako rekta dun sa tech, hindi daw nila gagawin since wala daw service dun. So better have it disconnected.. Ako na lang naglipat since parang router na lang siya.. Wala talaga signal, for 3 days, then biglang nagkaroon.. Pero mabagal.. Hanggang sa naging normal na..

    Nung lumipat na sa PLDT, parang 3mpbs na yata yung plan 999. Pero ayaw na nila pumayag since wala nga daw service sa location ko.. Hanggang sa nakapasok royal cable dito sa subd..

    1299 for 6mbps cable and internet na, no capping pa.. October 2017 pa sila nandito. Pinakiramdaman ko muna sa mga kapitbahay if ok talaga. Ok naman daw, besides. Yung kapitbahay ko kasi is medyo may edad na. Hindi sila techie persons.. So ako ang nagtest using my phone.. Ok din talaga para sa 3mbps.. Since october nakakabit ako sa kanila.. Hehehe..

    Ngayon bumababa lang ng 5mbps. Ok lang. Knowing na bakasyon. So marami nagamit.. Pero mabilis pa din..
