Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • CpE Student po ako and im having this thoughts na magshift nalang sa Computer Science dahil sa tingin ko is mas madali and 4 years lang unlike dun sa 5 years ng Engineering. 2nd year na ako and wala pa kaming major pero ang hihirap na ng mga subjects. I love programming and hindi naman ako nahihirapang matututo ng mga language na tinuturo sakin. Anu ba dapat course piliin ko kung software development ung gusto kong career in the future.

  • sundin mo yung tinatakbo ng puso mo.. <3 ;)

Mas madami ka choice if computer engineering tinapos mo.
    at mas magandang pakinggan.

I'm a 3rd year myself on ComEng and I'm not enjoying it.
  • @ts

kung gusto mo more on embedded systems and architecture, computer engineering.

from my experience, ece ako pero nag-IT ako after graduation, okay naman. more than enough yung programming background from college sa field na pinasok ko.

  • better take comscie, no question asked... you'll find out later on that you've made a good decision...specially, software development ung gusto mong career in the future.

    good luck.
  • im an ece grad, pero i work as a software developer/manager.

when we look at applicants, course is mostly irrelevant since may exam naman to gauge your aptitude toward software development. although i have a particular bias to ECE and BsMath graduates since alam kong mahirap yung course na yun, especially if you come from the bigger universities.

however, it always boils down to your grades nung college since wala naman kayo work experience. if you feel that mas magiging mataas ang grades mo sa comp sci kesa sa comp eng, then go for it. mas maganda tingnan yung transcript mo kung puro pasado at mataas ang grades.

and ngayon pa lang, pag isipan mo na yung magiging thesis mo. doesnt matter what tools you use, but the concept of the thesis should be exciting. wag yung boring, typical projects such as school grade system, etc.

also, make sure you're aware of the software dev process. whether waterfall, agile, etc. it should include at least requirements/use cases, development, testing and qa. make sure you're part of the dev people, and one of the others. mas gusto kasi namin yung mga grads na hindi lang development ang alam.

    good luck.

It boils down kung ano ba gusto mong path? Hardware or software? Follow kung ano gusto mo kasi kung ayaw mo nung ginagawa mo, work = work imbes na work = fun.
  • I am graduate of BS Com. Engineering. Mag ComSci ka nalang if programming lang habol mo.
  • Robotics engineering is also a very good course for those people who are interested in mechanical enginnering but want to concentrate on programming. Its a very futuristic yet has a lot applications niwadays.
  • Go for com sci.... From com eng to com sci din ako dati

  • Mas broad padin knowledge ng engineering, dahil ultimo electronics, electrical, communication malalaman mo even the highest degree of mathematics. Graduate din kasi ako ng computer engineering.
ang com sci/IT pure on software programming/web/animation/etc.

Sa work kaya mo self study lahat. system admin and network admin forte ko. pero I can also develop systems, automate hardware interfaces.
