Need help about AVRs

  • I'm planning to build a pc and the psu I'm getting is a Seasonic M12II-520 EVO. The pc's whole watt count at full load should be only around 400w. Not sure pa kasi the parts might change kasi baka maganda Ryzen anyways will I need an AVR or Surge Protector? I don't have a big budget kasi ubos na lahat sa parts na bibilhin ko so di pwede UPS. I don't need one naman kasi halos di nagb-brown out samen. Around BF Paranaque area. Never halos nag brownout dito. So will I need an AVR or surge protector and if yes anong suggest niyo na AVR or surge protector para di ako magsayang ng pera sa not worth it na product. Thanks in advance :)

mag ipon ka na lang for a 2k UPS :)

Sad naman. Will I be okay to go for 3 months na walang ups or avr at all hahaha?
  • If you have a good PSU, meron syang SOME protection. But I would not trust it alone, last resort lang yun. so get a good AVR

if talagang bihira ang brownout sa inyo then di na kailangan ng UPS
  • Any AVRS na worth the money?
  • I advise nalang getting a quality surge protector or curcuit breaked extension. Ang modern power supply kasi is switching type na with autovolt (110-240V) so useless talaga ang AVR. Ang peligro lang sa PSU is voltage spikes kaya surge protector ang kailangan.
  • I have a Meiji 500W AVR and recently (last week or so) it started emitting a burnt smell like a wire burning. I disconnected from main outlet and after a day, turned it on. After a couple hours it started emitting the burnt smell again. There were only 4 items connected to it: a 50" hd smart tv, a home stereo unit and a bluray player plus Cignal box. The home stereo and blu ray are only on when Im watching a movie. Is the burnt smell dangerous and where can I have this checked (purchased at Ace Hw)?

burning smell is a red flag. immediately stop using it. check each of the appliances connected to it if they still work

find an electrician to check it out
