GPU PROBLEM? Screen Flickering

  • nagfflicker screen ko like blackscreen then balik uluet tapos randomly flicker ulet and minsan sobrang tagal.
Is it a driver Issue or faulty GPU na to?
    Palit GTX 1050

  • Revert back to the old driver. Double check the cables.

If you have done these and the problem still exists, it's a dead GPU.
  • or faulty monitor.
  • well check mo muna yung monitor resolution ng game baka naman out-of-range na sa monitor kaya nag flicker (yep for some reason many games doesnt detect monitors supported resolution, they always assume you had a 1440p monitor, specially on badly ported games from consoles).
  • Thanks for replying guys :)
Testing at the moment old driver gamit ko. test ko lang kung driver lang talaga to.
Ask lang kung nakakadegrade ng lifespan ng GPU ang pagrerender ng videos, and 3d models.
Since ginamit ko to dati for that. Pwede rin bang PSU ang problema nito? or Windows 10 update? I think while installing the update nagsimula yung pag random blackscreen and lumalala lang after nung mismong update.

    Update if may nangyari ulet,
    thanks again.
  • Little Update

PSU is 2 years old after handling it to me. so siguro may fault din PSU?
  • if its PSU issue it should be blacking out (totally) and only thing you can do if you encounter this is power cycle by force (by unplug and plugging the power cord back). Sometimes it just shutdown completely.

in your case more likely its a GPU issue? sometimes it just a monitor issue? or just in the software.

to isolate it try using a iGPU to eliminate the monitor issue.

usually yun prolong rendering (or similar to gaming) ay nagko-cause ng init that on extreme condition ay eventually nalulusaw ang solder joint ng graphics processor sa board
  • ^debunked na yang ganyang cause by EEVBlog forums.

cold solder joints are now rarely seen on many modern electronics today because of the higher meltpoint and different composition of the solder balls, they even use xrays and microsocope to peek beneath it.

to prove it, they test it on most commonly defect items that have this misconception with, which is the game consoles (ps3, x360) and graphics card on computers (GPU), they use a hot air with nozzle that is as small as size 2.0 screwdriver, with temps of 120c pointing only on the die it self for about 5 minutes. long and behold, they managed to revive it without even reballing or reflowing the board. Why? The defect is actually in the substrate it self (the contacts between the die and the die substrate), rossmann and dave already explained this on youtube.

tl;dr dont spread misconception on public about cold solder joints defects on your precious GPU or consoles, it is rarely a case anymore for modern electronics, usually if your GPU is already malfunctioning its either the die it self is broken or the ram, even if you managed to get the gpu working by reworking the board, I can gurantee that it will only last for a few week, tops a month and it gets shorter after that until it doesnt work again.

ps: ilang beses ko na ba sinabi to, lol.... dami pa rin nag su-suggest ng defect about solder joints lol....

    Regarding the monitor issue...

Try mo muna ikabit ang monitor sa integrated graphics ng processor mo to rule out the videocard. This is assuming you are using an Intel CPU or AMD APU. Kung nag blackout parin ang screen it means yung problem nasa monitor or sa video connection.

    Other things to check...

    - Check yung resolution at refresh rate settings sa Windows. Also check the OSD menu ng monitor kung match ang refresh rate.
    - Are you using an adapter like VGA-to-HDMI or VGA-to-DVI or HDMI-to-DVI?
    - Check your monitor cable kung may damage or maluwag yung connectors.
    - Is your monitor near a source of interference like speakers, WiFi router, electric fan, AVR etc.
    - Nag sta-start ba ang blackout after a long gaming session? (Could be the monitor or power brick overheating)

Mas maganda kung share mo yung ibang details ng PC setup mo like brand of monitor at ano yung video cable na gamit mo etc. para mas madali mag troubleshoot.
