DC Inverter Aircon Thread (Aircon roundup and FAQ on page 1)

  • @musicgeek

Thank you! Medyo dead kasi yung WM thread kaya dito ko na-post. Nag post ako dun, so far no reply.

Called LG and asked for a replacement since pasok pa sa 7 days. May pupunta na tech talaga to verify yung problem. Siya ang magrereport tapos bibigyan ng go signal yung appliance store to replace the item.

That's great news for me. May fees ba na babayaran like checkup fee kapag may defect? Also how did you claim the replacement unit? First time ko kasi makakuha ng may defect. You can send your answer via message na lang :)

  • By experience, error codes CAN be caused by other malfunctioning parts. IIRC, ganyan ganyang error code kasi lumabas sa defunct Panasonic ko BUT it turns out the outdoor PCB is the one that's damaged. Better have your unit checked by experienced Panasonic tech to be sure.

I have a samsung topload, same error sila once you open the lid without pausing. So far, ok naman siya. I've been using it for 3+ years already. Same lang din na you have to press start to resume the cycle. Just make sure to press pause before opening the lid so de wont pop out.
  • During one of those days na walang magawa, I tried monitoring kung talagang wala nang in-rush current yung compressors ng DC Inverter units. However, it is a lot lot lower compared to old school conventional AC compressors. To compare as per experience:

1hp conventional compressor rated at 900 watts (11 EER), umaabot ng 3500 watts yung power draw ng momentary in-rush current.

1hp DC inverter compressor rated at 800 watts (12.3 EER) slow start from as low as 60 watts until it gradually reaches max power pero may momentary in-rush current which results to a power draw of....... 140 watts. :)
  • @cmaroket
BTW, since maulan nanaman, nag aaverage ulit yung 2HP d smart elite ko ng 4-5kwh / day of 24 hour usage or around 190w average consumption.

I guess your best bet will be the Homekin Smart Plug. Medyo malaki siya compared sa Sonoff s31, Lasco EcoPlug, etc. but di mo na need ng plug adapter as a tandem plug can be plugged in directly. Hindi nga lang ito uubra if you're using an isolation breaker like the Koten which has a universal socket

Ang tanong ko sa iyo is: may earth ground wire ba yung outlet mo o decoration lang siya in the sense na may ground yung outlet but it's actually not connected to an earth ground?
  • @Godai

    honestly not sure Sir.

Let's try to put it into simpler terms for someone who doesn't know anything about electronics..
    1. Aircons use a tandem plug with a grounding prong - hence yung 2 flat at 1 bilog na connectors. Yung ground na yan ay ginawa for safety purposes <click here for link>.
May ground nga yung saksakan pero walang wire that connects it sa earth ground for safety.
    3. Now sinasabi ng Lasco na hindi nila recommended yung gadget nila dahil walang grounding prong - this is a disclaimer because unsafe nga naman na walang Earth ground connection para sa protection ng aircon. They are also saying this under the assumption na may Earth ground connection yung saksakan (outlet) mo.
    4. Even if gumamit ka ng Sonoff S31 na may grounding prong pero wala naman Earth ground connection yung outlet, wala rin kwenta.
    5. Baklasin mo yung outlet to see if 3 wires ang connected sa likod. Dito mo malalaman kung niloloko mo lang ang sarili mo by believing in their disclaimer.
    6. If may Earth grounding ang outlet mo, then you need to find a universal smart plug na may grounding prong. Otherwise, just use it since the matter is moot anyways since you've been using your aircon without earth grounding to begin with.

Alin units exactly ang sinukatan mo sir? Ang laking bagay talaga ng inverter aircons having a soft starter circuitry..
  • tanong ko lang po, advisable ba ikabit sa avr ang ACs and refs? asking this kasi there are times sa gabi and tulog ang mga tao na may brownout (lalo na pag may bagyo) and hindi kami aware, so possible that when power returned baka nagfla-fluctuate pa initially bago nagstabilize.

if so, what type of avr should I get? servo-types?

    thanks

    @jangpz

btw voltage protector ata nirrecomend nila if sa aircon gaya nun benta ng panther. yun saksakan pang aircon talaga saka mas mura sa avr. may delay timer din

  • Hi mga sir, can I ask for feedback regarding Fujidenzo WAR90 1hp inverter grade? May offer kasi sa akin 11k lang. Bought may 2020. Is it a good offer to take?

For now ano marerecommend niyo na mura pero tatagal na inverter? Nabasa ko dito si TCL. Also considering buying it. Thanks!
  • @69erz

ditch the fujidenzo if you are into inverter AC. conventional ACs lang din ang mga brands na nagsasabing "inverter grade".
i would take TCL instead. also take your time reading page of this thread paps, may round up list si sir Godai doon.
  • @Ksolomon

16k srp niya tas selling for 11k. Lugi pa rin ako doon sir?

If you were in my place looking for a cheap but reliable 1HP aircon, which brand and model would you choose?
  • @Statix

Thanks for the tip sir. Was reading page 1 kanina. Was just looking for other suggestions if meron pa ibang 1HP Window Type Inverter I can consider aside from TCL :D
  • Mga sir sorry if unrelated.
  • ^^Another affordable window type inverter option is Unitech . 1hp goes for about 18k at Unitop Sta. Mesa branch. But if your provision permits, mag TCL ka na lang. May kalakihan kasi kaha ng TCL though more efficient as pointed out in previous posts
  • @Musicgeek

    salamat sa feedback sir
  • @statis, @shatter,

thanks for your comments. will check yung panther voltage protector.
  • @Godai_Yusaku

Appreciate the explanation Sir. Nagpatawag na ko ng electrician para sure. Maraming salamat sa tiyaga.
  • Hello masters - Bought a 1.5 Pana WT Inverter for one of the rooms. Was wondering if need ba to nung brace sa ilalim for support? Its replacing a 1 hp Carrier inverter (i know, i know - wala pa kasi inverter si Pana dati na WT haha), which is going to a smaller room. The wall is around 6 inches thick if that matters. The Carrier unit has the support brace that came with the unit. Afaik, they are similar is dimensions. So you guys think I need to also put a brace on the Pana when it gets installed?
  • Yup, you still should install a support bracket for it. Inverter units are much heavier than their conventional siblings. And that weight will deform your aircon's chassis sooner than later if it is without a support bracket. Once that happens, that's when your unit starts operating noisy. And you won't want that.
