DC Inverter Aircon Thread (Aircon roundup and FAQ on page 1)

  • Hello. WHich one is better option?
    LG HSN12ISY (Split) vs
    LG LA150EC (WIndow)
  • Re: inverter refs

Going four years na po yung panasonic namin and so far okay na okay pa rin siya.

Thank you po pala sa mga sumagot when I was still choosing inverter ac. We still went for Daikin Queen and so far anlaki ng binaba ng bill namin :) i also monitor our kuntador. Temp namin is 26° pag nandito asawa ko tas pag ako lang 28° kasi lamigin. Unfortunately, yung nabili kong room temperature monitor ay sablay so pag nag-mall nalang buy ulit. Sayang money huhu

Mine at home is a Samsung 13.5cuf no frost twin-cooling model which I bought second hand but still under warranty noong 2017. So far 5 years na halos walang patayan, the only time I serviced it (myself) is when I noticed na humina lamig ng ref (but the freezer is still ice cold and frost free) and parang may tumutulo na sa ilalim ng pintuan.

Lo and behold, dahil madalas naiiwan ng kids na bukas yung fridge door, nag accumulate ng condensation sa lower/ref evaporator assembly which eventually caused it to ice na umabot pa sa mismong blower niya, rendering it stuck so lalong nagyelo. Manually defrosted it using a hair dryer and cleaned the fan and coils thoroughly and it's back to normal. The samsung averages 100w whilst the condura only averages 55w.

    Now back to walang patayan....

Controlled ang humidity sa loob ng refrigerator and almost dust free so it will survive years na walang patayan. As for airconditioners, dust and biofilm will eventually build up sa coils.
  • Penge po suggestion, (sorry may back story haha)

Ang pinagpipilian ko for now is: (All split type)
    - 1 hp TCL (kasi mura pero medyo doubtful pa kasi puro window type yung may positive feedback)
    - 1 hp Aux F (mura and warranty)
    - 0.8 HP Daikin Queen (warranty and trust lol)

    Any thoughts?

  • OT na tayo pagdating sa inverter refs..

But let me just say na not all inverter refs are created equal. Hehehe. But I have to say that the fact na meron mga horror stories sa YT (marami) and mismong technician na ng Midea na nagsasabi na huwag muna bumili ng inverter ref says a lot to would-be buyers like me. I guess for others na willing sumubok eh go lang. But don't ever say that you were never warned.

    @ksolomon

TCL - cheap, DC motors, great value
AUX F - waste of money even with 5-year warranty
Daikin DSQ - pricey, but always good value
  • Has anyone tried OX Inverter ST?
They feature gold fins also. 5 year warranty on compressor, 2 years pcb & fan motor. 1 Year on all operational parts.

Tempting price for 31.5k for 2hp, 36k only for 2.5hp including installation.

@Sir Godai, not sure if what oem this brand has. thoughts?
  • @waki

Edit: I have edited page 01 to include Ox aircon. After some searching, it's clear that OX Philippines is not connected with OX China which Gree Electric filed a complaint against. <click here for link> The local OX seems to be just a local brand capitalizing on the Chinese brand as their units are rebadged Midea for their high wall units and rebadged Chigo for their floor mounted units.

The good thing is that they come with a 2-year pcb and fan motor warranty.

    @Godai_Yusaku

No problem as long as I am active in this thread. :)

AUX F - waste of money even with 5-year warranty

    +1 to this

  • The rated power consumption of the Everest non inverter 7.5cu ft REF we recently bought is around 85 watts lang if Im not mistaken. Assuming these conventional refs consumes twice as much power vs inverter kind, its not enough for me to make the jump unlike inverter ACs that we're dealing with significantly less kwh of usage / thousands of pesos savings vs its conventional counterparts. There's also a gadget that can be paired with the non inverter ref to cycle it on/off to save on power consumption which @Godai suggested accompanied by a video depicting the disadvantages of an inverter ref. We had a discussion about it here around March that you can backread.

Anyway, that's just me not totally being convinced with inverter ref pa. Then may nabasa pa ako on the other thread that a batch of Panasonic inverter ref series were found to have factory-defects. <click here for link>I guess Im just on the cautious side din since nagka PCB concerns na kami with our inverter ACs before that we can't risk similar glitches in our household ref. Yun nga lang napaka limited na ng non inverter ref choices sa mga stores. Top brands like Panasonic doesn't sell non inverter refs anymore at least sa Ansons makati na pinuntahan namin.

  • @retiredpalikero

Ganyan mismo ang setup ko sa bahay. 2TR cooling my ground floor with no issues. No need for a partition. Always remember that warm air goes up, and cold air goes down.

Previous setup eh 1.5hp Panasonic WT. 2F space is around 14sqm and may saradong pintuan going 3F pero yung pababa, open na hagdan. Palaging full power kahit naka 24 temp setting per my observation.

Lo and behold!......

  • Lampas 12k bill nila last month (May) for that single AC unit plus other appliances and shower heater. Bill ko was 6.5k pero tatlong 1.5hp with two of them running almost 24x7 plus other appliances and shower heater.
  • @kompressor

    Yayamanin talaga yan pinsan mo..
  • Hello. Negative ba yung Carrier?
  • @smiley

They're good naman. Bad lang talaga ang value for money. Yung WT nila are noisy and overpriced. Yung ST nila are good but overpriced.

    Ergo, bad value for money
  • @godai
Any suggestions. Was thinking Carrier or LG (since they have promo for free instalattion) and almost same price narin
  • @smiley

Nasaan ka ba and saan mo balak bumili?

YES, your outdoor unit's fan and compressor are both in OFF state if your room is on stable/maintaining temp. and that 10W shows your indoor unit's fan motor power draw.
    nangyayari din sa akin yan.
  • ohh wow! akala ko minumulto ako eh hahaha!
  • Sayang naubusan ng Panasonic XU12XKQ. So just bought XPU12WKQ instead
Lets see if tipid nga ang split aircon
  • may teaser Daikin na lalabas na yung wifi models nila this coming July. Sana i-carry ng Ray&Jay
  • ^ took them long enough..
  • If I were cooling a large space, with an AC that I know will be undersized, am I correct that I should be going after the highest cooling capacity I can in order to make it match the size as much as possible?

For example, choosing the Gree Full DC 3HP, which has a cooling capacity of 31,050 BTU/HR over say others like 3HP Daikin queen which is at 24,200 or 3HP Panasonic which is at 27,979?

Ideally you shouldn't get an undersized unit to begin with. But yes, if there is no choice but to get an undersized unit, get the most powerful one that you can find in hopes that it will somehow be able to get the job done. But then again, you might end up with a unit that consumes power like a conventional if it ends up having to work double time just to cool the space..

In my case, lumundag ako sa ceiling/floor hybrid para makakuha ng 2TR (3hp) capacity for my 35sqm space. The other runner ups in that capacity are the LG, and the Hitachi.
  • @godai

  • @muwu
    @macool

Golly oo nga! It's as powerful as my 2TR unit but probably more power efficient dahil full-DC! Lots cheaper than many of its competition too! Super sulit in its class!!
