DC Inverter Aircon Thread (Aircon roundup and FAQ on page 1)

  • question lang guys, im tempting to buy in (MANGKOSME) website. warehouse/clearance/class A (with box but may yupi ung box) and class b (walang box pero may protective foam/plastic wrapping) yung binebenta nilang aircon half ang price compared sa stores and with warranty pa. anyone who tried? salamat! :)
  • @rhaegar21

A quick look at their page tells me that this is a company owned by the Concepcion family as all the items are specifically brands under their umbrella. As such, the items are likely legit and with warranty. If what you're looking for aligns with their brands, then by all means go ahead and purchase from them. =)

At least kapag doon ka bumili eh hindi na overpriced yung items though stocks are awfully limited since puro mga class B items ang binebenta doon. Go for yung mga damaged box lang and avoid yung mga items na may physical damage.
For example, sa Abenson subsidized na installation for some brands.

Any home inverter aircon with an EER lower than 11 is crap in my book. Explore your choices in page 01.
TIA!
  • ^ does not include installation.
  • Hi guys, just bought a Unitech 2.5 WT for our 14-15sqm room. Also, tama lang ba na nasa around 600-700+ @ 25 or 26c ang maintaining wattage nito, this is around 4-5am in the morning which I started the AC around 10pm.

  • ^Relative to split types, yes maingay yan Unitech window type but a bit quieter than our non inverter Carrier wt. For me tolerable naman noise level nyan primarily generated by the fan itself.
  • @musicgeek
hmm. not sure about the size pero parang mas tahimik pa yung non-inverter namin.

kamusta yung horizontal swing ng sa inyo sir, maiksi lang ba or sumasagad from left to right?

Depende ata sa point of comparison and preference, yun brother ko din naiingayan sa Unitech 2.5hp vs. pinalitang 2014 model Panasonic 2hp wt sa room nya. Though I'm not quite bothered by it , parang malakas na hangin lang naman and not the irritating vibration noise.

The most I would recommend for oversizing would be 1 size higher. Yours is a full 2 sizes bigger! Be on the lookout for maasim smell if the aircon set temp is at 26 or 27. Ano yung pinalitan na aircon if you don't mind me asking?

Non Inverter WT 1.5hp Kolin, nakatutok po yung 2 windows sa afternoon sun, also yung AC unit and we're on 6th floor. No other appliances that generate heat on the bedroom. 2 adults + 2 dogs. AC installed around 6ft high on the corner of the room.

i assumed that wall where the windows are still warm/hot to touch until night towards dawn. you wouldn't have that "maasim smell" just because your compressor haven't that time to rest at least(based on your power draw observation @ 600~700W while on your alleged maintaining temps). kung walang issue sa wall(too hot), there's something wrong with the AC, bakit hindi bumababa ang power draw nya. 600W~700W at constant is way too high imho.
do you have a room thermometer?
  • @statix
when running at AUTO fan, power goes down to 220+ watts, pero hindi nya mamaint
ain, after 5-10mins magramp up ulit yung compressor. room temp goes down to desired temp pero mostly sa kalahating area lang ng room.

akala ko kasi consistent sya @ 600~700W. tho you have more than enough headroom with that 2.5hp for a 15m² room kaya you should expect na kaya-kaya nya ilampaso yan. yet it's weird na kalahati lang ng room mo kamo ang kaya nya palamigin. i'm guessing irregular yun shape ng room, L-shaped perhaps.
try to set it @ 24°C then observe.
  • Most of the time talagang nasa 600-700w ang power. may time lang na nag 220w+ kaso yun nga saglit lang talaga. I guess no issue sa walls kasi hindi na sya mainit sa gabi, even outside walls since madalas naman mahangin.

Here's the layout of the room. Floor to ceiling at around 3 meters.

Oh and may sale pala ng TCL ST sa Market! Market! TCL TAC 22CSA/KEI @ 29,999 kaso +8500 for installation. Still a good deal ba?

  • yes I have, yung analog type hygrometer. kapag nakalagay near AC same temp. pag malayo nasa +2c difference. yung buga ng horizontal swing halos di umaabot sa bed.

    thanks sir!
  • Good day!

    Thanks

Definitely quieter yung luma mo in terms of wind noise since mas mababa ang CFM rating ng blower fan nya. A 2.5hp aircon will have a much stronger blower fan thus may wind noise talaga siya. But kung ang papakinggan mo ay yung noise level nila kapag umaandar ang compressor, for sure mas tahimik pa yan 2.5hp inverter mo kaysa dun sa 1.5hp non-inverter na luma.

when running at AUTO fan, power goes down to 220+ watts, pero hindi nya ma-maintain, after 5-10mins magramp up ulit yung compressor. room temp goes down to desired temp pero mostly sa kalahating area lang ng room.

I personally find the aircon's placement to be awful.. Not only is it's location making it hard for it to circulate the air, but it is also mounted on the side that gets tons of afternoon sun.

What can you do to improve things?
    1. Move the aircon to the other side of the same wall - while this will not improve the issue with the afternoon sun bearing down on the aircon, it will improve air circulation somewhat since the return air intake will no longer be constrained. The issue naman is that lalong mainit sa bed as the only way to cool the room would be to make the air in the room go in a clockwise direction. That and having it moved will entail masonry and electrical work that will cost you a fair amount.
    2. Same position but install a wind deflector to direct the cold air towards your bed and thus force the air in the room to move in a clockwise direction. This is the cheapest solution which will not require much effort. <click here for link> Here's another one: <click here for link> This will also result in a more even air temperature for the entire room.
    3. Same position but move the bed to the other side of the room - placing the bed directly in the path of the cold air outlet will make your bed the coolest place to be in the room. All it will take is some elbow grease to rearrange the room but unfortunately, this will not improve the warm situation in the other parts of the room.
    4. Move the aircon to the opposite wall fronting the current position of the bed - this is the best solution IMO as not only will it result in the room being evenly cooled due to better airflow, the aircon will no longer be exposed to the afternoon sun. And yes, the masonry work and electrical wiring will cost a pretty penny.

Option 2 really is your best bet.. IMO

If you're referring to yung Safety Breakers na may kasamang universal outlet, then yes puede naman. Ginawa ko na yan dati.
  • Thanks guys on your inputs! Planning to switch to ST nalang since may pwede namang mapag gamitan nung WT, ok naman kaya kung dito ko ilagay yung indoor unit?

Outdoor unit still facing the sun, which do you think would be ok?

I'm eyeing for the TCL ST units, ok na kaya ang 2HP or stick to 2.5HP?

  • Still new to this and learning from the info from page 1 but I would like to make suggestion based on the last picture sent.

May parang awning ung building (the large net like thing). Why not try installing a canopy over it 1st? Should block the sun and reduce heat; also shouldn't cost a lot. If it doesn't work, you can still go for the options provided.

Additional things, is your roof GI or a roof deck? If GI, baka walang insulation and a lot of the heat is coming down from it
  • ^i can't view yachiru's posted images.

Roof deck with linear metal ceiling.

But nasaan yung paglalagyan ng outdoor unit with reference to that drawing?

1 would be the better choice for location as 2 would be awful since it will only be able to draw in hot air and will likely operate very inefficiently.
I'm eyeing for the TCL ST units, ok na kaya ang 2HP or stick to 2.5HP?

2HP is enough. But if tama yung observation na uninsulated roof deck ang roof ng kwarto mo, then better ang 2.5hp dahil pirming mainit yung concrete slab na yan well into the evening. Now if you are actually able to insulate that deck and bring down daytime temps in your room, then a 2hp will be more than sufficient.

Edit: So metal roofing pala na hindi kamo mainit so likely may insulation yan. Go for 2hp kung gayon. Just work on insulating those windows na lang from the afternoon sun.
