DC Inverter Aircon Thread (Aircon roundup and FAQ on page 1)

  • ^Ala ba Midea Celeste? Nag bill reveal na kmi hahaha, 5k php not bad. 14 hrs on the average, per day. 2hp Midea. Siguro if mabawasan ko tagas sa windows mas maging efficient pa to e.
  • Share ko lang

Almost 3 years and counting. Never talaga ako na bill shock, never nag alinlangan mag on ng ac, never nag limit ng oras kung hanggang ilang oras lang.

Thank you sa mga OG dito Sir Goda, statix.

    https://ibb.co/mcwS6H2
    https://ibb.co/Qfsc222

From small details to big details sinunod ko talaga like, insulating the room very well, consider the size of windows, not exposing the ac unit in harsh condition like nasa bubong or mga nakapaligid puro heat conductors, install awning and consider natin ang climate ngayon need na natin magdagdag ng hp size ng aircon kung gusto talaga natin makatipid without hurting our pockets.

    Here’s my setup

-1.5hp tcl unit (over sized ng 0.5hp its a must!!)
-9sqm room with 2 big windows ( kapal ng kurtina, lol )
-well shaded ac unit ( its a must )
-literal no air leaks ( i used door rubbers, window rubbers etc )

Umulan o umaraw since nabili ko to 18hrs tumakbo to.

Summer time, 22hrs at maraming times na 3-4 days hindi pinatay.

Summer time setting - 25c cool or 24c auto
Normal days - 26c cool or 25 auto
Rainy days - 26c auto or 27c cool

  • @hanap_mura

San makakabili ng window rubbers and door rubbers? Yun talaga kailangan ko kasi poorly insulated room ko
  • @void

Sh*p*e sir. Search mo lang door insulator or window insulator.
  • @hanap_mura

    nice! now that's a happy camper! :)
keep in mind that your watt meter doesn't end there just as your simple power consumption monitoring apparatus. as you get along with your AC and how you are familiarized with it,,, you can tell in an instant if there's something wrong on the AC with just a glance at your watt meter.
e.g why so sudden or too soon it throttled down or why is it ramping so hard/for so long, despite this and that,,,, ;)

  • @Godai_Yusaku
And honestly, di yan ang tinitingnan ko but yung size ng outdoor unit. Kasi the bigger the OU, the more efficient the unit will be

See how quickly the dealer quickly ate his/her words. Hehehe. Kaya nila sinasabi na 2 years lang when in fact eh 3 years ang coverage ay para makadaya sa customers. Imagine if ang alam mo 2 years lang ang coverage mo, tapos after the 2nd year ay nasira yung unit eh ibebenta nya sa iyo ng full price yung pyeza pero makukuha nya sa Gree under warranty. Instant kita na agad. Basta panghawakan mo yung warranty ni Gree. That's all that really matters when the time comes.

You're starting to get it! Learning to look behind the marketing talk is what makes all this worth it. Lately though, AUX and Midea have caught onto what Gree is doing and have begun to release units with more competitively sized OU's.

Go thru your shortlist again. Rank them by price, OU size, and warranty coverage. I'm sure you'll have your winner.
  • Good day.
We bought a Panasonic CW-U921JPH window type inverter AC last mid April.
Galing pa ako sa traditional AC dati. And so far my readings sa Sonoff POWR2 ko is around 250 to 260watts when set to 25c. Pag first na ma-on siya its around 750w but after 20 to 30 mins it goes down to 250 to 260watts.
I just set to Auto lang at 25c. Normal na ba na ganito power consumption niya or pwede pang bumababa? Thanks!

Eto naman yung consumption Niya for the whole month of May. Naka set rate to 11.00 /KWH
Running for almost 17 to 19 hrs a day.
Most of the time from 10am to 5am(kinabukasan)

ideal na yan. yet matipid na rin yan despite the spiking ambient temps we are having now. pero kung kaya or comfortable ka pa @ 26°C still in AUTO, try mo. makikita mo na mag drop ang power draw nya when you set your temp from 25°C to 26°C at day time(high noon until late in the afternoon when your ambient/outside temps are hitting 32°C+).

So far malamig na sa amin ang 25°C ang mukhang kaya pa mag 26°C during afternoon till morning the other day.
BTW, since we're using the AC for 17 to 19 hrs a day what's the ideal cleaning interval for window type inverter ACs? Previous AC namin minsan every six months to 1 year depends on the usage.

    thanks!
  • ^kaya pa yan every 6mos cleaning. tho observe mo lang din, if you noticed na medyo odd na ang temp regulation nya,,, time for cleaning na. periodically hose down mo rin yun outdoor side/condenser kahit hindi mo pa schedule nang cleaning. dust build up sa condenser could hinder cooling and power efficiency
  • ^Thanks for the advise!

Maraming nagbigay ng advice, from improving the insulation sa room, suggesting specific brands ng 1.5hp, hanggang sa possiblity din ng pagoversize talaga to a 2hp unit (our room is 13 sqm pero nasa top floor at directly hit by sunlight from early noon hanggang hapon kaya mainit talaga).

Finally, my wife and I decided to get a 2hp unit.

Walang exaggeration, life-changing talaga. Nagbago talaga yung quality of life namin eh. Tatlo pa kami sa room (me, wife, and our kid).

Oversizing works!
  • Kaya very important yung proper sizing (and identification ng conditions) bago pa bumili.. Sadly for many Pinoy households out there, it's just that price that they are looking at thinking na "puede na 'to!" Pagkatapos ay pupunta sa FB to ask kung bakit di lumalamig yung room nila at kung bakit same pa rin yung electric bill amount..

nice! yes, SIZE matters! enjoy the comfort without slashing your wallet. ;)

btw, mero ako ulit kwento. it's been 2 days that i wasn't happy with my AC's temperature regulation. february was the last time i had it serviced for cleaning so it's been doing great for the first 4 months with an average of 17~20hrs daily until.
i do not have the luxury of time to tinker until this morning, time and again that my 'conviction' didn't proved me wrong.

    lo and behold the culprit;

    and i figured out that i can remove the louvers for ease of moving around while doing the job;

    happy now :)
Planning to get the 2.5hp window type variant.

Whenever i clean my filter every 2 weeks, sinisilip ko din talaga ang fan blower ng indoor unit kung madami na ba accumulated dust. Since nabili unit namin last Nov, never pa nalinis ang indoor unit eh.

btw, sobrang linis pa ng squirrel fan mo ah?! since november pa kamo yan, daily used ba? how many hours each run?
  • Thoughts sa Midea Airstill with 1 year warranty on parts and labor and 5 years on compressor? Barely seen any discussion here sa thread. Friend says it's great and I hear sobrang tipid daw talaga sa kuryente. Anlaki rin ng indoor and outdoor units. But it's a super close fight for me with Panasonic Deluxe RU9AKQ because it's Panasonic, and has better warranty (1 yr parts and labor, 3 yrs PCB, 12 years compressor), but less energy-efficient at parang maliit lang yung outdoor unit.

Yes sir. Daily use AC namin. Minimum of 9hrs daily tapos once a week 24hrs. Minsan 2x a week 24hrs pag nakapag leave si misis. Ngayong nag iba na sched nya sa work, usually ON namin AC around 10-11pm tapos off ng 830am kinabukasan.

  • ^ipalinis mo na within 1 year for that 'outrageous' warranty clause ng seller mo.
then observe na lang after, kung wala naman abnormalities sa temp regulation pwede mo yan extend beyond 6mos siguro. pero hindi ko papaabutin yan ng 1year after the warranty expires for preventive measures na rin. not good rin na mababad sa dumi/jelly ang evap.

Yan ang highest EER AC based on DOE's list. And yes matipid nga yan. My friend has the 1.5HP. 18-20hrs daily use around 15sqm room. Nasa 3k lang total bill nila. May tatlong kids pa sila na labas masok daw sa kwarto at di laging sinasara ang pinto. XD

Yeah.
Its good for your health during this heatwave and good for your sleep as well. Kaya dapat alagaan din sa maintenance. Once a year na deep cleaning is OK na saken. Basta maintain lang linis sa filter and OU.

Not much mention kasi nga ang roundup ko sa page 01 ay para sa basic and standard units lang. Premium units are not included simply because they're often not on the table for most people. If you're going to look at Midea's premium units, don't forget to consider the Ultimate Comfort <click here for link> which has an even bigger outdoor unit! EER on paper is slightly lower than the Airstill's but personally I think this unit has better value due to the lower price.

But if you want a super efficient unit without the bells and whistles, the full-DC unit from Gree is still tops in terms of value.

Since summer naman took the opportunity na papinturahan nalang muna yung roof namin. Boysen Coolshades (white). After 2 coats of Boysen Coolshades biglang bumaba talaga temperature. Yung summer Wala pang Coolshades na paint Yung ceiling temperature nasa 42°c to 43°c. After painting nasa 34°c nalang talaga max ceiling temperature. Ambient temperature sa loob ng buong house dropped to 32 to 33°c. Laking tulog kasi ang bilis na lumamig ng room with our 1hp AC. Dati need to crank up the temp lalo na noon time Kasi lumalaban Yung heat from the ceiling.
Now, I'm not that sure kung mag papakabit pa ba ako foam insulation sa loob ng ceiling because the Coolshades reflective paint is working. :)

Nice!. Update mo kame dito sir after 6mos to 1yr kung wala gaano pagbabago sa performance ni cool shades. Hehe.
  • I'm choosing between daikin d king vs carrier aura . Medyo malaki price jump ng daikin. How are these two brands?

Yup, yan rin ang main concern ko kung gaano siya ka effective in the long run. But I decided to have it topped of with a single coat of Coolshades annually para ma maintain niya condition ng roof.
Medyo malaki Kasi nagastos ko sa roof repair before having it re-painted since napabayaan siya for more than a decade na walang maintenance sa roof. Since alam ko na yung cost and labor mas prepared na ako sa yearly maintenance kahit single coat lang.
  • Sir @Godai,

When you mentioned size of OU (Outdoor Unit) matters on split type.. you are referencing the physical size LxWxH, the bigger the dimension the better since bigger fans ?
