  • IPO 9 pesos... 1997 merong 20% cash div
  • AmalgamvsAloo
for those unfamiliar with the story, please summarize what happened. Tumaas ba or bumaba ba ang petron share price from then to now?

Tumaas!!! On actual launch day (not sure if its the right term), opening pa lang nag 25 pesos siya from it's original offer of 7 pesos.

**9 pesos pala yung price nya not 7.

time deposit even ignoring taxes is usually below inflation so its only for say emergency fund (although baka mahirap mag withdraw pag weekend) or funds na kailangan mo gamitin in the short term

well BPI is a big bank so its probably pretty stable

Dagdag ko na rin, there is no such thing as risk-free investment

  • ^Sobrang mababa ang risk-tolerance nya, kahit simpleng BPI bank savings lang medyo hesitant pa cya. How much more kaya kung stock market investment na, kahit tayong veterans na, hindi pa rin nawawala ung kaba tuwing bumibili.
  • ^ Ang point ko lang ay nasagot na ang tanong nya in the previous pages. Parang naghihintay lang siya ng sagot that will confirm / agree with what is already on his mind.

    High risk, high return

    Low risk, low return.

Ganun kasimple.
  • I understand what carlorules is saying. It's BPI ffs. And a time deposit instrument. Relatively speaking, pader na yan.

It's like tyo tumatawid sa gitna ng highway na may mga rumaragasang mga buses and trucks, tapos sya magtatanong kung safe bang maglakad sa sidewalk at gumamit ng overpass. I mean definitely, baba ng risk tolerance nya.
  • ^Thanks for clarifying Sir.
He's not into risking his money kahit gaano ka low risk pa yan, kaya he wanted to know if safe ba sa BPI mag-time deposit.

We cannot suggest to him to join the Army waging war against the Abu Sayaff, Kasi kahit sasali sa security guard enforcing "No ID, No entry policy", takot na nga cya sa safety nya.
  • 86% ng pinoy walang bank account. "less than one half of 1%" lang ang invested sa stocks.

  • How about this ok kaya dito mag invest? Paano kaya ang process dito?

  • ^Bonds are relatively safe. Contact one of these banks if you want to avail.
The bonds are available from joint issue managers BDO Capital & Investment Corp. and China Bank Capital Corp. as well as bookrunners such as BPI Capital Corp., PNB Capital, First Metro Investment Corp. and SB Capital Investment Corp.

Very basic kasi mga tanong mo.

Ayos ah. Biglang binura yung post sa page 509 <click here for link> para magmukha akong nang-aaway dito sa thread.

Sana magkaroon ng Quote button for each post para maiwasan yang mga ganyang dirty tactics / deeds sa forum

    Moving forward....

Baka kasi ang alam nya sa stock investing ay yung "trading" which is different.

Good luck na lang sa kanya kung bonds or time deposit ang piliin nya.
