  • Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada announced on Wednesday, January 25, that classes and work in the city government offices are suspended in some areas in Manila on Friday, Jan. 27.

Through the Executive Order (EO) No. 2 from the Office of the Mayor of Manila, Estrada announced that classes for all levels are suspended in Manila District 3 or in Binondo, Sta. Cruz, and Quiapo.

Meanwhile, there will also be a suspension of work in the city government offices of Manila, excluding those involved in the maintenance of peace and order, traffic enforcement, disaster and risk reduction management, and health and sanitation.

The order of the class and work suspension on Jan. 27 is in preparation for the celebration of the Spring Festival or the Chinese New Year on Saturday, Jan. 28.

It said that the work and classes will be suspended “for public order, safety and convenience and to reduce traffic congestion during the occasion”.

According to the EO 2, Chinese New Year is one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China, but also in the Philippines.

Bakit ang suspension sa District 3 lang? pero pag govt service buong Manila? suspended na din sana whole Manila. non working holiday
  • kelan ang next na holiday? holy week na ba?
  • Dapat April 9 e, kaso Sunday yun. So holy week na nga.
