    add ko lang baka na experience niyo din yung pag install ng Ubuntu MATE 16.04.2 LTS sa official site galing gamit ko ang rufus pero walang option "install alongside".

    Never pa. Pero lalabas lang yan if you are installing it on a drive that already contains an OS installation

    Kung may extra drive ka, mas maganda kung install mo na lang ang Linux dun. Just change the drive boot priority in the BIOS if you want to switch OS'es.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti On Linux: Best Linux Gaming Performance
    Phoronix <click here for link>

    With the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti already being accredited as the "best gaming graphics card" by Windows sites, given NVIDIA's continued Linux driver quality, it really comes as no surprise that the GTX 1080 Ti also delivers the best Linux gaming performance right now too. That is, unless you only consider open-source graphics drivers an option for your systems.

    Overall the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti offers incredible performance potential right now if you're able to afford the $699 USD price. In the months ahead it will be interesting to see how AMD's Radeon RX Vega performs as well as NVIDIA's eventual successor to Pascal, Volta.

    Stay tuned for more NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Linux tests -- including fresh Linux VR tests with SteamVR / HTC Vive -- in the days ahead.

  • How The RadeonSI OpenGL Performance Has Evolved From Mesa 11.1 To Mesa 17.1 Git
    <click here for link>

    For those curious how AMD's RadeonSI Gallium3D driver for GCN GPUs has evolved, here are benchmarks with two graphics cards showing how the RadeonSI Mesa performance has evolved since Mesa 11.1 going back to late 2015.

    Tested in this article were the Git branches of Mesa 11.1, 11.2, 12.0, 13.0, 17.0, and master, which yielded Mesa 11.1.4, 11.2.2, 12.0.6, 13.0.5, 17.0.1, and 17.1-dev. The highest supported version of AMDGPU LLVM was used with each Mesa branch. The graphics cards tested for this article were the Radeon R9 285 and Radeon R9 Fury.

  • Just received an email update about the FREE course LFS101x being updated to 4th edition. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to new linux users: <click here for link>

    What's new:

    - We’ve re-ordered the content to make it more logical.
    - All discussions and laboratories have been revised to work with newer distributions, such as Ubuntu 16.04 and RHEL7/CentOS7.
    - All "Try It Yourself" sections, Knowledge Check questions and final exams have been updated and made more instructive.
    - We’ve updated all the screenshots and redone the graphics to bring them up to date.
    - New laboratory exercises are now included, so you won’t have to download extra files in order to do labs.

  • Trying Out Unity 8 + Mir On Ubuntu 17.04
    <click here for link>

    Given there is just one month to go until the official Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" release and past the ordinary freezes and nearly at the final development milestones, I decided to take a test drive this morning of Unity 8 with Mir atop the latest daily Zesty packages.

    With Ubuntu 17.04, Unity 7 with the X.Org Server remains the default desktop environment, but Unity 8 and Mir can be found on the default ISO and it's just a matter of logging out and into the experimental Unity 8 session. It's really easy to try out for those interested. For my tests today I was using an Intel Xeon box with a Radeon RX 470 graphics card atop Ubuntu 17.04's default Mesa packages and kernel. Overall it was an interesting experience and while a lot of bugs remain, the Unity 8 experience was much better than the last time I tried it a few months ago and is almost up to being usable for a daily Linux desktop.
  • 17.04 is scheduled for April 13. But the final beta 17.04 rc2 is already out. For people who can't wait for 3 weeks and would want to try out or actually use the next Ubuntu- this rc should be good enough.

  • AMD have announced 'Anvil', an MIT-licensed wrapper library for Vulkan
    <click here for link>

    AMD are continuing their open source push with 'Anvil' a new MIT-licenses wrapper library for Vulkan. It's aim is to reduce the time developers spend to get a working Vulkan application.

    Included features:

    A memory allocator which allocates as little memory as necessary for the specified list of memory regions, miptails, objects or subresources from one or more memory heaps, depending on platform’s capabilities.
    Automatic object lifetime management, thanks to auto pointers being used across the library.
    Descriptor sets and descriptor set layouts are automatically generated from user-created descriptor set groups.
    Helper routines for FP16<->FP32 conversion.
    Integrated validation support. Validation can be enabled by changing a single argument value at Vulkan instance creation time.
    Integration with glslang for run-time GLSL -> SPIR-V conversion. Assembly of the result blob can also be retrieved for further analysis.
    Object tracker which can be used to detect wrapper object leaks.
    Page tracker, useful for the purpose of tracking memory bindings, if sparse residency is used for buffers or images.
    Windowing system integration – current support includes XCB and Windows platforms.

    It supports AMD-specific Vulkan extensions, but AMD claim it will work with any Vulkan implementation.

    You can find Anvil on GitHub.
