    plan setup.

    modem-> router-> wireless movie stream.

over kill po ba para sa 2 rooms ang asus rt-ac87u and mga mobile phones lang mga 4 mobile phones.

baka may marecommend kayo na pwedeng mag stream ng movies sa external hdd na nakakabit sa router and same time may torrent and vpn setup.

    pahelp naman po thanks.

  • @ tongerks

Ano ba mas advisable for implementation? and why?

    1. DHCP ni PfSense
    2. DHCP ni Windows Server

    Thanks,
  • may maximum ba ang wifi repeater/ range extenders?
  • @wool

let's both agree na bumili ka nga ng cream of the crop best of the best na wifi repeater/extender which can broadcast up to 300 meters.

yes your wifi client device will be able to scan the signal, makakapag transmit din kaya sila pabalik sa ganoong kalayo? without proper planning lalo lang nakasama:

    Wifi repeater/extender kamo?

so your best approach pa rin ay dapat WIRED Wireless Access Point.
  • @whoami01

that really depends kung paano gusto mo setup. i have setup both.

  • dumb question:

ano ang generic term for ubiquiti litebeam?
  • ^microwave.

PTP or P2P or PTMP or P2MP Wireless Device.

  • Guys I need your help.

I tried disabling the DHCP nung Pldt then attaching it to my Main modem na Huawei, nagiging extender lang siya but I can't access ung settings ng PLDT Prolink router which is in 192.168.1.1 before so di ko rin macontrol yung bandwidth. By the way, I can access the 192.168.254.254 ng Huawei. TIA.
  • @iamayugiohfan

No. Since it's a prolink and from pldt then its either an adsl or vdsl modem.
Routing mode will only work if you use the rj11 port.

yep just buy a MikroTik router then follow my presentation at the MUM Saudi Arabia 2017. :)

    https://mum.mikrotik.com/presentations/SA17/presentation_4761_1508751501.pdf
    <click here for link>

*just make sure to disable the Fasttrack rules.

  • Mga sir i have no idea sa wireless internet connection so i need help sana..

Connection namin is globe yung 1200 Php/month ata un,
yung router ay nasa ground floor, my PC is on the second floor.
I tried a wifi dongle for internet connection, can play you tube pero ang taas ng ping sa online games.

nasa wifi range ba ang problem?
kasi pag nag oonline games nman sa laptop when on the ground floor wala naman problema.

or nasa dongle ba ang problem?

    ano po bang magandang gawin?

    Thanks!
  • kasi pag nag oonline games nman sa laptop when on the ground floor wala naman problema.

you actually answered your question. pag nasa malapit yung device sa router, maayos ang ping, pag nilayo ang device, mataas ang ping... so, in conclusion... (write your conclusion here...)

on a serious note, wireless is almost always unstable, if you want lower ping, run some ethernet cables.
  • @baratzki

its easy to confirm na range yung problem.
pero may mga items kasing involved that might also affect the result.
(using a dongle on a desktop pc vs using a laptop wifi connection)

sadly cables is not an option, di rin pwede ibaba yun desktop PC sa baba.

will wifi extender work? or powerline adapter?

-- edited by ImyoPapi on Nov 27 2017, 11:19 AM

I will vouch for Powerline kesa wifi extender. Meron akong TPLink powerline kit, isang dulo may wireless, if you're interested send me a pm.
  • Guys can you please suggest the cheapest but a decent dual band router i can use at home for mediasharing , ftp server, etc. Thanks!
  • pros lang ng powerline adapters is pwede gamitin yung linya ng kuryente for data lines.

but you living here in Philippines were electrical standards in regular households are not up to spec. I wouldnt be surprised if shared circuit yung bahay nyo. making it worse is once na mag kahiwalay yung breaker nyo eg, breaker for floor 1 and 2 can already cause connectivity issues.

ill only recommend powerlines pag same circuit lang yung ginagamit ng saksakan mo.

mas maganda manghiram ka muna ng powerline adapter and see if it works in your household, if it didnt work then dont be surprised since that is expected.
  • Sir will WDS work between 2 different router brands?

Masters advise lang, naglipat kasi ako ng pweto ng modems so nag extend ako ng RJ11 from splitter to modem. About 12 meters yung RJ11.

May way ba para maacesa yun?

  • @DonP

as long as same chipset sila (or sometimes as long as same manufacturer ng chipset yung gamit ng router) gagana yang WDS. Else, no.

So if you try connecting two router via WDS using Asus router (commonly uses Mediatek and Broadcom) and a Ubiquity AP (which is 99,99% uses AtherOS chipset) it may work but with issues sometimes outright it will not work. Some wireless repeaters support the compatibility mode (which uses Client+AP) which will work on any access points, but the issue is your main router will see the traffic coming from the repeater not from the devices connected on the repeater, making it pain in the ass to administer.
  • @polka
Thanks for the info sir. Much better to get 2 same wireless routers para iwas sakit ng ulo.. hehehe
  • ^ dont forget to patch your client devices (that's your laptop, smarthphone, ipcam, etc..... anything that is wifi connected) from 802.11r vulnerability (aka, KRACK) or else you will have issues regarding router/AP's latest firmware with your device outdated software when roaming over the wifi (eg switching from one ap to another).
  • Hi guys need help

I'm using PT&T Broadband 25mbps plan. Problem is they throttle down my connection to 3mbps everytime I try to download something big. Either I access steam, torrent or twitch streaming. Per inquiry with their tech, the system will throttle my connection if I hit more than 25mbps speed. And it takes a long time before it goes back like 5-10 minutes and will just throttle back again everytime i hit that limit.

I'm thinking of throttling down my connection to 20mbps via modem is this possible? I try to access it but default user and pass doesn't work.
