I've been using TP Link Deco M4R for 2 or more months na ata. The first few months are great. My setup is main deco is connected to 2nd deco thru lan and 3rd deco is connected wirelessly. Ung 3rd deco is located 10-12 meters away with a concrete wall in between. Yes, may decrease ung speed dun sa 3rd deco unit, dahil sa logistics nya and dahil sa concrete wall.

    However...

I would recommend you to check out other units out there. Recently, may problem ang firmware ng Deco units, take note, hindi lang siya sa M4. Nadidisconnect ako sa net and I'm getting high pings kahit naka connect ung desktop ko sa 2nd deco unit (which is connected thru ethernet sa main deco unit). This also happens with my other wireless devices like laptops and mobile phones. I've been active sa official TP Link Deco forum but it seems they don't have a fix yet.
  • ^ Thanks chief sa info! My friend opted for the M5s kasi the M4s are always sold out. Wala pa namang disconnection problems however meron ng signal strength problems with wireless mode. Baka mostly dahil sa way pagkasetup and baka sa wall din. Plan ko na lang is mag iperf on common areas where they hangout para the reception can be improved.
  • ask lang: mas okey or in pa rin ba yung tech na nasa Ubiquiti AC Pro ? Ano po recommend niyo better at similar price range ? 2 storey house lang install (60sq.m each floor).
  • @seth
Simplest solution is to buy a wireless mesh kit, deco m5 should be enough. pero kung may budget then you can get yung higher specs.

Another option is to setup wired APs. at least 2, 1st floor and 2nd floor. performance wise mas lamang to vs mesh. cons is kailangan mo maglagay ng ethernet cable papunta sa APs.

Generally any router can be setup as an AP, recommendation ko is tp link or asus mainly because meron silang AP mode para mas madali.

    I'm personally using 2 x tplink c7 at asus ac68u as APs.

Regarding naman sa LAN ports, yes you can just purchase a switch if needed. or you can place the APs kung saan mo kailngan ng wired LAN, since may built-in ports naman sila

On using Ubiquiti APs, kung may budget naman bakit hindi. take note lang that they are meant to be placed sa ceiling.

  • @frequency:

salamat po sir. i think i would go with wired setup kahit na medyo mahirap and possible less pogi point dun sa possible visible cables or cable enclosures.
  • Hello, may recommend po ba kayong budget router na may wide WIFI coverage? ung stock router kasi ng ISP namin maliit lang ang sakop sa bahay, pa dc dc ang phone ko pag nasa kwarto ako. not needed po extra features, as long as consistent and reliable na malawak ang range. thanks po!

  • @kenneth
check mo yung mga routers na may high gain antenna 9dBi above, take note lang na yung increase ng signal is horizontal, so mawawal signal sa ibang floor.
  • Any reviews guys sa Tenda Nova MW6? I'm having some problems with TP Link Deco M4 and I decided to purchase a chinese version of Tenda Nova MW6 (legit naman).
  • Ok po ba yung mga dual band na tenda router? Example yung ac11. More on netflix lang naman.
  • mga pafs patulong po.

Bought a msi x570 tomahawk. ok naman ung on board wifi siguro mga first week. gaming, dl, browsing. Then nung monday nag dota 2 ako. normal ang ping pero nasa 5 ung packet loss. unplayable talaga sya. so naisip ko baka congested lang ang server. so kahapon i tried again. ganon pa din high packet loss. so naisip ko itry ung pcie tp link wifi ko. to my surprise normal sya. no lag. tried pagpalit palitin ung connection then connect to dota (watch game) and talagang my packet loss si on board wifi. Any help?

Tried reinstalling the driver from the motherboard ganon pa din.
  • Hello patulong po. I am planning on buying a smart tv dito sa room namin sa 2nd floor and gusto ko sana iconnect ung tv via cable instead na sa wifi considering na heavy usage ung consumption (youtube netflix etc). Kaya lng ung router namin ay nasa 1st flr. Wondering lang po if ok lang mag connect ng cable from 1st flr papunta sa room namin sa 2nd flr. My degradation po ba sa speed if medyo mahaba ung cable (approximately 15-20m)? Or is it better to buy a 3rd party router and set it up as AP sa 2nd flr then run a cable from AP router papunta sa room namin in that way mga 8-10m lang ung haba ng cable? TIA PO

  • Hi.

I am on a 100mbps plan. However, the wifi speed I am getting is not the same as the speed of wired devices. When wired devices hit 100mbps, mobile devices only hit 50. If wired devices hit 65mbps, mobile devices only get 15mbps, at most. I am using a single band router.

    1. Is it because I am not on a 5ghz band?

    2. Just to add, I dont think distance to wifi router is my problem as I get the same results whether I am in the room or right beside my router. Since the location of my router is pretty efficient, as it technically blankets the whole condo with wifi coverage, does this mean I don't need a mesh system and I should simply upgrade to a dual band router to be able to utilize the 5ghz channel?

    3. Checking the price of the Asus AC68U, its PhP7200. On the other hand, the TP-Link M4 Deco is PhP8150. It seems like I just need a dual band router now and not a mesh system. But at those price points, would the m4 Deco be a better option?

    Thanks
  • @egzbuen
generally you wont reach 100Mbps on a 2.4Ghz wireless. so yes you would need a 5Ghz router.

    2.4ghz less bandwidth, higher range
    5ghz higher bandwidth, lower range

If a single router can cover the whole condo then its a better option than mesh. i would suggest taking a look at wifi 6 routers like the tplink ax50

  • frequency is right, wifi-6 routers (ax) limit the noise from other wifi routers and wifi devices which make your internet speed slow down, so this would really free up your 2.4ghz from other 2.4ghz interferences especially bluetooth devices.

If that still doesn't work out, then go for 5Ghz then

  • Btw, I read that in order for wifi-6 routers to fully harness its power, the client devices like cellphones and laptops should also be wifi-6 capable too??? Is this true?
  • wifi routers that combines 2 or more internet sources like 2 prepaid wifi routers from pldt/globe,mayron ba ganito? saan kaya makakabili?
  • @arch
tama po, both client and router should support wifi 6, backward compatible naman. so kung bibili ka ng router ngyn at may budget naman you can try invest sa wifi 6 router
  • wifi6 is really expensive, I recommend buying a Mesh WiFi instead if you want speed and range.

pwera na lang talaga kung WiFi6 ready na yung gadget mo, if not then your literally wasting money on a technology that your not using. If you think WiFi 6 can solve radio congestion issue on older Wifi standards (WiFi 5 or earlier), well you can stop dreaming now because that wont happen.

As I have mentioned earlier, a single band router that I am currently using blankets the whole condo (125 sqm.) with wifi signal. Thus, I do not need range extenders.

However, since the price of a good router is near the price of the deco mesh systems (deco systems to be the more practical approach/decision), which model would you recommend? At a given price point, I can either go the route of a M5 Deco 2pc system or M4 Deco 3pc system.

Dual wan router po need mo. nakabili ako sa la**da ung tp-link tl-r470t+ load balancing router

    Wan1 = Converge / Huwaei ONT
Wan2 = Smart Corpo Sim / Huawei Black Mamba

need ulit ng wifi router palabas pero LAN kasi purpose ko nung load balancing router para sa work ko and home based work ni misis

Chief, opinion ko lang. if open ka sa idea with being an early adapter, wifi 6 is a viable solution. Or mesh wifi 6, mas ok talaga. you can check your current mobiile clients if they can support this wifi spec.

wow ok ito ah, hanggang 4 WAN ports pala, nabasa ko sa LAZADA, thanks for sharing this cedcool26!

I chose that over the Tenda W15e. May experience nako sa Chinese Tenda na firmware na hindi na naaupdate, I had the Tenda AC10 as our home router before. Although the Tenda W15e is cheaper, yung lack of updates made me chose the TP Link over.

3rd option ko is yung Asus AC86u kaso sobrang mahal, ka price na ng phone. Palo kay misis if ever. hehe

kailangan pa bang inaa-update ang mga routers? I use a Tp-link router and another Tp-link extender but I don't update their firmware software eh

Yes sir. Lalo na kung related sa security and performance ang update.

usually mga ilang months ang interval ng pag-uupdate?
  • ^^

Cant tell. Yung gamit kong asus, lately parang halos every month meron fw update. Better check the manufacturer’s website para makita mo yung latest upgrade.

if you want to achieve that 100mbps internet plan on wireless you will still need those Mesh WiFi kits, Im not saying you use a a simple wifi repeater, repeater and mesh wifi are two different things, wag mo na ipagsama yan, mesh works on the next level kesa sa mga wifi repeaters.

as everyone says, 5ghz hates obstacles, using a wifi mesh kits (which have this thing called a wireless backhaul that is specifically designed to at least penetrate walls a lot better) so with mesh wifi working you can just use 5ghz all over the place in you condo if you want to utilize that 100mbps bandwidth you have there.

but hey, if you still dont want to use mesh wifi kits, I guess you can just get rid of the walls instead. or deal with the slow speed under congest 2.4ghz spectrum.
