yes. it's recommended to set a static ip kay TP-link

(worst is 0.19 mb/s at 1.7mb/s DL at UL pag medyo ok bit still too slow)

    at 480p youtube gamit vanced.

pero after 30mins / 1 or 2 hrs balik problema. need to restart ulit.

    current router is linksys e1200
    naka repeater mode.

  • Good day mga sirs,

any recommendations for router na pwede ko gawin main router for small home use lang,

need ko kasi mas malawak yung signal na maka abot sa room ng parents ko, tried using a extender sa room nila, palagi nawawala ang connection.

budget is around 2k, kahit di na wifi6 kasi PC ko lang naman meron wifi6 sa bahay, also just using PLDT plan 1299+ speed boost connection, thanks mga sirs

    try mo AP.

Latag ka ng LAN cable from pldt ONU to the location then kabit a branded wifi router in AP mode.
  • Good day mga sir. May PLDT at Converge ako. May marerecommend ba kayo na device to combine the 2 ISPs into 1? Ty.
  • I usually recommend TL-R605 for most people but that router has a ton of issues, and cant really support more than 300mbit NAT in load balancing and failover functionality works great until you want to go back to primary connection once the connection restored since thats not going to happen on its own (yeah its kinda dumb) there's a fix for it but you have to enable loadbalancing features to get failover to function properly and if your have your primary internet connection faster than 300mbps bad news, youll only get 300mbps (sometimes slower), you can only get the full 1gbit connection if the router dont use multiwan functionality

mikrotik also had this janky script you can use but I dont recommend it specially for PPPoE connections. the script is too janky that you might as well just use openwrt firmware on it and use mwan3 to get some of this setup much easier and all can be done on web gui.

so in this case I recommend going with pfsense/opnsense for multiwan, you can also use openwrt compatible router and install mwan3 package to get multiwan support.

if your main concern is power consumption for pfsense/opnsense, you can actually buy a HP T602 plus on shopee/lazada (add a dual port intel nic on it) and that setup basically consumes around 7-12watts depending on the load (7watts if its doing nothing, 12watts if its doing NAT at full 1gbit).

  • mga paps bumili ako ng tp link ax55 ax3000 na router paano ko siya connect sa converge? plug and play lang ba or may need pa ko kalikutin sa router modem ng converge like bridge mode. btw I am using zte 670L plan ko is 1500
  • ano recommended 2.5GB NIC nyo? nag fail na yata onboard NIC, nawawala connection
  • i am trying to bridge mode a HUAWEI HG8145V5 router to an ASUS AX55 router using PPPOE,
Sa ONU part ok naman gumagana when i use ethernet cable to a pc and making a PPPOE dialer. Pero pag sa ASUS router ko kinabit yung cable it says connected getting an IP address 10.XXX.XXX.XXX pero no browse(internet).
ano ba mali sa ginagawa ko? i think sa asus router ang problema? did a factory reset na ganon pa din.
  • @boyscout
sa asus router - wan - internet connection - wan connection type - pppoe
  • @frequenzy yes i can connect and i am getting an ip from the ONU. yun lang when i try to use the internet nag eerror siya na wala daw ako internet.
  • @boyscout

    Naset mo ba yung vlan?
  • na set ko naman vlan. pag gamit ko pc dialup using pppoe nagcoconnect at may internet. yung router pppoe nag coconnect and i get an ip kaso no browse.
  • sa onu ba bridge mode should i enable or disable nat?
  • sa onu ba bridge mode should i enable or disable nat?

kapag bridge mode bale dapat wala ng NAT, since parang passthrough nlng siya.
  • @frequenzy thank you. so i should disable nat sa wan page. try ko later.

I225-V or I226-V ba yung onboard 2.5G nic? May intermittent disconnection flaw sila.

  • ^
normal lang na kapag nag enable qos is baba ang throughput mainly because sa cpu limitation ng routers. halos lahat kasi ng qos tech relies on the cpu and the router just doesn’t have the needed processing power
  • ^

  • ^
once you turn on qos kasi, nadidisable yung hw-acceleration. that mikrotik only has 700Mhz quad core cpu. if you really need qos above 400-500Mbps, then you need to look at intel based router setup.
  • Meron ba ma-recommend na "managed switch" na mai sfp+ port uplink under 10k?
Mga Mikrotik lang nakikita kong "decent" for its price...
Or meron kaya mga 2nd hand below 5k?
  • need your thoughts on the HUAWEI WiFi AX3 (Quad-core)?
  • maganda lang sa huawei yung mesh system nila, kung gumagamit kayo ng Huawei ONT (tested it with HG8145v5) there a option to manage external APs there (available on Globe ONT firmware, cant say with other ISP), you can add any Huawei routers there and be part of wifi mesh in a single click.
  • Mga Master

I've been contemplating on what to do with our two ISPs sa bahay Converge and PLDT both at 250mbps (200 ata kay PLDT) and I'm wondering what's the best bang for the buck build in managing these two connections.

I've read about using SFP plugs (DFP-34X-2C2 GPON stick) and it seems mas malinis tignan ksi I'll finally be able to get rid of the ISP provided router/modem and use a much performing one. After extensive research, I've found the following builds na pwede pang matagalan >>

    1st build
TLSense 2980U + 2x GPON sticks + AP (still searching for the best one) = parang all in one na ito, software setup via PFSense na lang - kaso mahal.

    2nd build
2x GPON sticks + Media Converter Gigabit Ethernet (has 2 SFP ports) + TP-Link ER7206 OR TP-Link Er605 + AP = I might encounter some placement issue but software wise madali sya i-configure unlike the PFsense above.

    3rd build
2x GPON sticks + unused PC (Intel G5400 + B370 mobo) + 2x Gigabit NIC that has 2x SFP ports + AP = Could be sipping power past 15w, costly to run but the parts are already available (just gathering dust as it was used for crypto mining - and we all know na lugi mag mine ng coins nowadays XD)

Alin dito ang cost effective mga master? I heard PFSense can do Load Balancing / Fail Over / Traffic Shaper (QoS).

  • @RyuzakiL

    - Take note that I think you need "SFP+" and not just 'SFP'
    - Your 3rd Option IS the cost effective one.
    - In terms of watts..., I have an i5 Lenovo SFF that idles @11watts. (system + sata ssd only)

I have the same predicament as yours, I have pldt and now + w/ globe.
I've been a pfSense user before and have some 'challenges':
    - if you have pppoe, should note that they say it is only single threaded and will cause issues if you have high speed connection and you have a 'not so powerfull' CPU.
    - in terms of QOS, you really need to be a 'rocket scientist' to set it up and it is tedious!

I am 'evaluating' OpenWRT as my main firewall/router for now, and in terms of QOS and for the Average JOE/Juan, it puts pfSense into oblivion!, just install the package and enable, adjust your upload/download speeds starting from 85% onwards, test against bufferbloat website..., repeat until you get the 'optimal' settings!

Things I notice for OpenWRT is that, if you tinker far too deep, LUCI or the GUI Web interface has no settings on some of what you will be doing/setting. For example, OpenWRT defaults to dnsmasq for DNS and DHCP..., in the event you change to Unbound, you will be "BOUND" to using UCI or command line to change settings (for DNS/DHCP related things that is...).

OpenWRT also has network-wide AD blocking that is too similar to pi-Hole/Adguard, but not if you need pretty/fancy/DoH & etc.

PS: am not implying that pfSense/OpenWRT is good/bad, it is just how are you willing to use it and familiarity of it..., so..., pick your poison so to speak...

  • need your thoughts on the HUAWEI WiFi AX3 (Quad-core)?

There are still some companies out there that don't allow Huawei routers if you're going WFH. Dumb rules.
  • Take note that I think you need "SFP+" and not just 'SFP'

majority of those SFP GPON modules are only rated at 1gbit anyway, unless you buy those 2.5gbit capable ones which is probably you cant buy not unless youre the enterprise customer like the big ISPs are.

take note, my sfp gpon module works great with sfp cards but it may actually not work that great on sfp+ cards, probably it has something to do with having trouble doing anything that is slower than 10gbit network handshakes, most sfp+ cards actually have that kind of issue.

in terms of QOS, you really need to be a 'rocket scientist' to set it up and it is tedious!

kinda true if you do the spartan way of specifying services to be prioritized (mainly by port numbers), but if you are one of those people who just want that set and forget kind of QoS, then meron din naman SQM equivalent si pfsense which is FQ_CODEL.

if you have pppoe, should note that they say it is only single threaded and will cause issues

this is not only limited to pfsense or freebsd in general, it also the same issue with linux. this is why hardware acceleration is must for pppoe with openwrt flashed routers.

to be honest attaining 1gbit connection over pppoe should be attainable with any modern low power cpu now a days. heck even that HP t620 plus with 2ghz single core can easily saturate a 1gbit pppoe connection.
