Unified Solar Panels and Controllers Thread (FAQs, DIY Help)

  • is it really better to invest on a solar charge controller with a on grid tie setup or better get a inverter with limiter instead or automatic switch?
Then you decide which inverter to use. Otherwise sayang kung me limiter bbilhin mo then later on ipaNet metering mo rin pala.
  • Lahat sila 12v, 3kw psw inverter, walang ckt breaker

  • @domotico

For DC you need to consider cable length and thickness, iba compared sa ac. Try to check sa google for DC wire sizing chart/guides para ma compute mo distance, voltage drop and wire gauge na needed.

    For example DC is 12v x 100 amps = 1200watts
Pero sa AC is 220v x 5.45 amps =1200 watts

Meaning since lower yung voltage ng DC mas mataas yung current na dumadaan (=heat), please ensure na tama kapal ng cable na gamit mo dapat nde yan umiinit, pag umiinit ibig sabihin manipis masyado cable mo at mataas risk ng fire.

Also install a DC circuit breaker near the battery for safety reasons, kung mataas power needs mo better use 24v-48v kesa 12v, pag 12v mas makapal wire need mo. Tapos kabit ka 63 or 125a fuse malapit sa battery.

  • Hi, may nabibili ba na device na parang separate yung battery sa araw, parang charging mode lang sya, say i have 500ah, yung kalahati icharge lang sa araw at yung remaining charge/ fischarge during the day tapos pag dumilim tsaka magdischarge na , bale makikicombine na sya dun sa other half, dapat automatic kase matrabaho pag manual
  • ^
250ah = yung kalahati icharge lang sa araw
    250ah = charge/discharge during daytime,
500ah = total capacity (discharge during nighttime)
simple answer is NO and there's NONE. You'll compromise the balance of your battery. Meron tinatawag na limiter but not what you're looking for.
  • is it really better to invest on a solar charge controller with a on grid tie setup

not to confuse, solar charge controller (SCC) has nothing to do with your solar setup. kung pipili ka ng system sa solar mo it's only either 1. On Grid 2. Off Grid. then compute the capacity before buying an SCC at ganun na rin sa Panels mo.

    renting lan gkase ako e...

then get a propely sized inverter with limiter sa everyday load mo.

hindi ba ito pag may sobrang harvest say consumption mo during the day is 200watts the yung harvest at the time is 500watts hindi ba ichacharge ang batt pag dami ka harvest real time?

Thank you for this answer sir... follow up any brand suggestion na bang for the buck(2k or 3k)?Also nababasa ko dapat hindi lalagapas ng 150watts na panel para you retain 12volts? tama ba, pag lagpas mostly 24volts na sya?(ok lang ba 24 volts na inverter sa ganitong load na 2k-3k load)
  • hindi ba ito pag may sobrang harvest say consumption mo during the day is 200watts the yung harvest at the time is 500watts hindi ba ichacharge ang batt pag dami ka harvest real time?

Yes po, matic na po sya. And normally sa batts prin kumukuha ng load simultaneous charge and discharge. kya po walang gadget sa pgkakaalam ko na need mpa controllin yan. It's all internal po sa SCC and Batts.

sir taba, it's not good just putting random pieces together lalo nsa DIY. Better establish your setup based on ur needs then you start from there. Malaki na load ng 2k-3kw (considered as 24v or higher setup), u'll be needing a lot of panels and if ur just renting then probably not a good idea. And i doubt na payagan ka ng me ari. Good luck po. BTW might as well join the SPP fb group.

doing my own reesearch kase dapat grid tie alng but upon checking my a/c(old and 2HP split type) alone is already comsumes average 825watts...napapaisip ako palitan na lang kaya ito ng bagong aircon kahit hindi inverter para mabwasan ang konsumo nito alone....

  • kung papalitan mo ng a/c better inverter prin otherwise sayang ang pagbili mo. inverters are so favorable sa solar setup. dpat inverter washing machine, ref & a/c lahat ng yan kc malakas sa load. ganyan po talaga pgsetup sa solar, prang nginvest kna din ng malakihan. Gud luck po sa decision ninyo.

i dont disagree but can you share kano ba dapaat ang konsumo ng regular 2hp na a/c feeling sobrang laki ng average an 825Watts e....

Capacity Average Wattage Cost Per Day

qq once na check mo power draw from the wall how do i compute for the daily usage pala X 24hours ba or average reading for the entire day? sorry hindi masyado nakinig sa electronics noong nasa school...
  • Bye meralco bills soon.

  • Appreciate your help: Our family mausoleum has no electrical connection, thinking of setting up a solar system to power 2 5-watts LED bulbs (on 10hrs/day, 365days), and 4 30-watts LED ceiling lamps (max 6hrs, 1 or 2 days a year). Do I stick with solar set-up, a portable solar power supply or modify those solar lights with built-in battery/charger. Thanks for your inputs

  • and 4 30-watts LED ceiling lamps (max 6hrs, 1 or 2 days a year).
