What I'm not sure is if it is powerful enough to stream. Feedback sir if you get it to work. I'm currently using plex to stream from my external hard drive connected to my pc. I'm looking into getting my cloud as well for this purpose para tipid konti sa kuryente.
Edit: Hopefully kasama my cloud mo sa supported list:

Hi Guys, Ask lng if ano budget FreeNas machine specs for media use enough to handle 1080p & 4K content. I'm thinking atleast 4 TB at 8 GB RAM at Mini ITX pra portable at less power consumption.... Any suggestions will be welcomed. TIA

hi guys,
pasali sa thread.
@boyett,
i'm also curious about the specs of your motherboard, processor and memory as i'm also planning to build my own NAS using Freenas.
@gian_koski,
it really depends on your needs. i'm currently in the market to build my own NAS as well. it will be used mainly for storage of documents, software, media (ie. photo, video, music). i'll be using the plex media server for streaming.
plex media server requires 2000 cpu passmark per streaming of 1080p and recommends intel core i3 and above AFAIK.
freenas recommends at least 8GB RAM, 1GB RAM per 1TB space. again AFAIK.
here's what i've got so far.
First option (Use mini-ITX)
Processor: AMD A8-7600 3.8Ghz Quad (Passmark 5142) -> Php 4100
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI -> Php 5000
8GB RAM -> Php 2700
HDD -> Seagate ST2000VN000 2TB (NAS Drive 5900RPM) -> Php 4600
Case: Fractal Design Node 304 -> Php 3800
Power Supply: approx -> Php 2000
Total -> Php 22200
Second option (Use micro-ATX)
Processor: AMD A8-7600 3.8Ghz Quad (Passmark 5142) -> Php 4100
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-S1 -> Php 2700
8GB RAM -> Php 2700
HDD -> Seagate ST2000VN000 2TB (NAS Drive 5900RPM) -> Php 4600
Case: Fractal Design Node 804 -> Php 4900
Power Supply: approx -> Php 2000
Total -> Php 21100
i also looking at the following cases:
cooler master elite 110 (mini-itx Php 2200)
silverstone sugo 13 (mini-ITX Php 2200 - seems to be out of stock)
thermaltake core v1 (mini-ITX Php 2750 - seems to be out of stock).
appreciate if anyone can recommend some other cases either mini-ITX or micro-ATX.
also, comments and feedbacks are welcome for proposed build i'm doing as this would be my first time to setup a NAS using Freenas.

I'm talking about sa AMD processor, hindi nila ne-recommend yan.
Hope nakakatulong... Enjoy sa pagbuo ng nas!

dammit.
update: Supermicro agreed to replace/RMA my motherboard (even if it was still working) with their revised January 2017 of C2000 series motherboard (yep replace, as in they need to revised the entire motherboard to fix the issue).
and here I go, my NAS will be offline for a mean time. (ugh dammit)

@boyett,
thanks.
yup. i've been reading a lot sa forums nila actually. which is why i learned that amd is supported although not recommended. one of their moderators is actually using amd on his freenas.
links below.
<click here for link>
<click here for link>
<click here for link>
<click here for link>
also, i'm only gonna be using this for documents and media storage, plex media server and transmission only. i won't be using the redundancy (which means i probably don't need ECC ) as the files stored there are not important.
if i were to go intel, the most i can get is a Pentium G3258 - 3.2ghz at Php 3500 with a Passmark of only 3945 (
<click here for link>), way below AMD A8-7600 APU with a password of 5143 (
<click here for link>). cpu boss comparison between the 2 clearly shows that the AMD is better. link below.
<click here for link>
the next intel would be i3 which is at least Php 5500 and the cpu boss comparison still picks amd a8-7600 over the core i3.
<click here for link>
your build is pretty good actually and AFAIK is pretty expensive as well. intel xeon processors, last time i checked costs around Php 10,000+ as well as their motherboard. unfortunately i don't have the same luxury which is why i'm going with a cheap build :D
however, i have not yet decided on what to get and i'll keep searching and getting advised online for a good cheap build for freenas.

Ahh ok... as long na sakto sa pangangailangan mo, go for it.... Thanks

It's probably not acquired within an arms length transaction, need to use current market rates. Price at newegg for supermicro board is already $180.
AMD A8-7600 APU
Go for it. Add in a reliable psu, +gold or platinum is recommended, intel nic para hassle free networking. You can also use green disks (hindi na ata uso 'to) - yung raid pool ko na WD greens at raid0 ever since I've started nas is still ok. Or any same size disk, swertehan lang yan make sure you get store warranty.
Hindi ako familiar sa amd, if the a8 is faster compared to i3 then it should probably be okay. Konting research pa before you decide to purchase, make sure that the a8 won't be a bottleneck sa transcoding requirements ni plex. I'm using haswell xeon e3-1245, and walang hiccups sa dalawang 1080p transcoded plex stream. Not sure if my system can handle 4K, wala akong test file ng 4K, tska wla din akong 4k display can't afford pa :)

@boyett,
wow. san mo nabili yan?
@Davidx23,
thanks. yup, i'll do more research para sure. i'll also try to do a test using my desktop running core i5 4670 @3.40 Ghz with a passmark of 7368. it has 16GB at the moment.
i actually created a VM for running freenas with 8GB ram on this desktop. i've setup plex on it as well. just forgot to test streaming to more than 1 device. i'll try testing this later and see how many device can stream simultaneously. maybe i can use this as a basis if amd a8 will be sufficient.

@darwinsm

@boyett,
thanks. i'll check ebay as well.
also, i'm thinking of changing my build and use intel process instead. i found a cheaper intel that beats the amd a8-7600 passmark.
Processor: Intel Pentium G4560 Dual Core 3.5 Ghz (Passmark 5156) -> Php 2890
Motherboard: Gigabyte H110N -> Php 4000
8GB RAM -> Php 2700
HDD -> Seagate ST2000VN000 2TB (NAS Drive 5900RPM) -> Php 4600
Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advance -> Php 2200
Power Supply: approx -> Php 2000
Total -> Php 18390
