CPU: i7-8700k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD
<click here for link>
GPU: GTX 1070
Storage: Samsung 970 500GB via M.2 (Windows Drive)
I plan to buy a samsung 980 1TB to replace my samsung 970 500GB as Windows drive. I plan to buy a PCIE NVME adapter to add the 970GB because I only have 1 x m.2 slot. I know that the GPU has a dedicated PCIe lane to the CPU. Does adding a PCIE NVME adapter (UGREEN 4x Card) makes the GPU function as PCIe8x?
If ever the GPU ran as 8x will there be a big performance difference?

From the Gigabyte webpage that you linked to:
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) <--- This is your GPU slot
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x4 (PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2) <--- There is no mention of them sharing the PCIe lanes with the GPU slot.

@awakeruze
thanks
I assume that using two slots will make each lane as 8x thus degrading the GPU's performance.

yun isa lang ang slot, that's M.2 NVMe.
here's an old video about M.2 drives. you may skip the video @ 6:12 mark. check your motherboard's M.2 sockets.

Di ko sure kung dito ko dapat i-post to pero anyway..
Pa help naman pa identify yung missing capacitor at kung ano specs. sapphire nitro+ rx580 8gb yung card.
I can probably resolder the capacitor as long as alam ko kung ano yung bibilhin na replacement.
TIA

Guys. Need help. Ano kaya problema neto?

that could be it. common na mag-cause ng issues ang mga extension cables.

I've used WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner in the past to clean a faulty switch in my mechanical keyboard, which solved the problem. Just spray it directly over the part you want to clean, and it evaporates in a few seconds.

Just sharing. Recently replaced the lcd screen on a Lenovo Ideapad 330.
Had previously purchased the wrong lcd because was relying on website information (model no., specs, etc.). Dapat talaga open and check to make sure you get the correct lcd. Most important are the connector type and if may brackets or wala. Anyway, got a 30 pin instead of the needed 40 pin. Natenga cya for the longest time dahil nabwisit ako and daughter wanted an ipad anyway.
So medyo kelangan na ng laptop for school so revisited this since a new laptop vs fixing the current one is pretty big difference. (Ryzen 2500u so more than enough for school even if it's a few year old na. Plus, already upgraded it to an ssd)
What IS interesting is the price of the lcd now. This is an 15.6" EDP touchscreen LCD that was previously in the 4K price range but is now at 2.3K (got it for 1.8 with vouchers, etc.) from shop**. Ok naman ung rating ng seller even if the actual item had no previous purchase. Item arrived after a week and came in a similar box to motherboards and lcd was wrapped in LOTS of bubble wrap. The other thing that was VERY important was the conversation with the seller. I made sure that they were sending a compatible part. Ok naman si seller in sending a video which shows the model no. of the item. The 1st one was wrong so I sent pictures and made sure na tama ung no. pins and may brackets. Seller send another video which allowed me to check the new model no. online.
Replacement and installation was pretty easy except for the fact that some of the screw mounts on the plastic cover had cracked and had to be repaired with super glue. Got this brand Aron Alfa from japan which is incredibly strong. Important rin talaga na meron ka mga plastic opening tools since most gadgets now have snap on parts.
Saved about 35K+ by fixing it and not getting the new laptop outright. Sabi ko nga kay mrs, let me try this. The >2k damage is negligible if I can get the laptop to be fully usable again. We were using it as headless unit for emergency purposes previously.

Glad you got it running again. Touchscreen LCDs are usually 40-pin, because of the additional pins for the touch panel.
Ryzen 2500U isn't bad at all performance-wise, its battery life just sucks compared to the contemporary Intel 8th gen. Besides, the built-in Radeon Vega 8 graphics blows the Intel UHD 620 out of the water.

Hi guys, baka meron ng naka experience dito.
Bale biglang naglo-lost signal display yung desktop ko after few minutes of powering up. Then kahit pindutin ko yung reset button walang nangyayari. Buhay yung unit.
Probable ba RAM problem neto? Or may other causes pa ba?
P.S. More or less matagal na ng 5 minutes bago mawala yung lost signal after fresh power on. Then pag pinatagal ko ng konti naka-off, tapos pinower on ko ulit, ilang minutes lang no display na siya.

a couple of things you can test:
-go to BIOS, reset to default settings; Or if your mobo has CMOS reset switch, press it.
-if you have dual channel rams, tanggalin mo muna isa and check if it goes through

So managed to get a couple of "free days" coz kids and wife were out of the house. Finally got around to doing some of a long list of things to fix/upgrade. Also used this opportunity to brush up and improve soldering skills
3 Xbox Controllers
- repair of bumper buttons - desolder and replacement of tactile switches. Can be bought in 10pc packs for cheap in Shop**
- install of hall effect analog stick - daming solder points, more than I've ever done for 1 item. Had one of those face-palm moments of successfully removing the old stick and resoldering after to find out that I had resoldered the old one. Hahaha. Anyway, I was working on 3 controllers of which 2 are V1 pads that I got 2nd hand. The original plan was do a test replacement on the V1 to do the actual replacement of the drifting stick on the v2. Was successful naman pero discovered that the contact points on the xbox controller prone to coming off. Either that or it doesn't like my cheapo solder suction. Haven't noticed any difference yet but I'm also using that controller with a nintendo switch via an 8bitdo usb adapter.
- fix for unresponsive digital pad - discovered that if you press on the contacts directly, they register immediately. Since I had previously replaced the contacts (looks like a sticker with 4 metal circles), I probably wasn't able to put it perfectly back into it's original position. The digital pad itself presses on the contacts via a rather small point so good contact was not happening.
Solution was to cut small plastic squares (from packaging) and tape over the contacts. Kinda works but it's registering double taps. Will probably do more research on this.
Neogeo POW 5V power adapter
This is REALLY old. Did voltage measurement and it's barely outputting anything. I was lucky that I got it to work a couple of times just to verify that my neogeo is still working. For now, got a universal adapter but wanted to fix up the original (it's worth something)
- desoldered 3 capacitors
- will order replacement online and replace when those arrive
Still have a couple more that I'm hoping to do the next few days since mostly holiday.
Xbox One that quickly turns off after turning on (got it dirt cheap). Was to check the mosfet and power rails, hopefully can identify and fix. Aside from being awesome if you have gamepass, it's a great multimedia machine.
Nintendo Switch that goes black screen after the logo (also got dirt cheap). Need to the capacitors around the M92T36 chip. Based on videos, problems related to power are usually focused in this area. If can't fix, will keep for spareparts or abangers for a defective switch that can be fixed with parts from this one. Have a niece that I can give this to if I can fix it.
Tapos there are so many mods for older consoles na. Very tempting to try them out. Sometimes (or is it more times?), it's become more interesting to tinker than to actually play the games.

Try either update browser to try a different browser
@RenanerP
There could be several reasons pero depends san mo nakikita ung green screen:
- if upon power on ng PC, could be hardware related
> try reseating hdmi, dport or other video cable
> try different video cable
> kung may igp ung mobo, try removing gpu and power on
> kung nawala problem, related sa gpu. Not necessarily broken but TS from there
> if problem persists or kung igp talaga gamit, possible na mobo. you can strip down to bare components and do further tests to isolate issue and/or test parts kung may spare na pc or parts
- if green screen occurs pag boot into windows
> try to check/remember if anything was changed prior to issue: new hardware or software installed.
>>If hardware, remove new HW and try again.
>>if may new software, uninstall kung kaya. If not go to safemode, uninstall new software, reboot and test again
> try booting into safemode
>> kung wala ung problem sa safemode, try uninstalling and reinstalling video drivers
>> kung nandyan pa rin problem sa safemode, could either be hardware related or problem with Windows
>> to determine kung possible HW issue, go into bios and observe if mag green screen. if it does, punta ka sa HW TS sa taas
>> For Windows TS, mahahaba na yan with different options depending on what's available to you: OS Repiar, OS Reinstall, live USB OS, etc
On a different note, kung gagamit ng lumang conductive pen (na hindi pa tuyo ung ink), test first before using for an extensive project or repair. Otherwise, facepalm moment yan... I think ung conductive material nag settle and tumitigas kaya kahit i-shake mo, wala o konti lang ung hahalo sa ink.

However, saw in a forum thread that this particular gigabyte mobo has an issue wherein it will cause beep codes if there is either no display connected or the video cable is damaged. Try mo different hdmi cable. Nothing to lose.
