Ngayon kung lagi tayo nasa 'high level' competition na yan (na expose tayo sa european teams and etc) in the long run maganda kalalabasan niyan.
Di naman bandaid solution si Blatche.
hehe :)

mas ok kung focus muna sa asia.....consistently beat the likes of S. Korea and China, the rest should follow.

Tutal nandito na rin lang, a little hindsight that i want to develop on our national team.
Vertical Leap / Leaping Ability
This is one exercise need to address on our national team aside from plyometric exercises.
If you guys watch the game last night (New Zealand vs France), almost outrebounded ang Les Bleus ng Kiwis, walang tigil ng kakatalon ang mga Kiwis lalo na yung Fotu (6'7"). Muntikan pang ma-upset ang mga French but we know na ang resiliency and composure nila kaya they climb back and take the W.
If you may try to watch the 2008 Beijing Olympics between USA vs China and try to analyze. Syempre malayo pa tayo sa athleticism ng mga Kano pero if only (for example) Calvin Abueva can leap and posterize Yi Jialian (wishful thinking) maybe we can safely say that we can compete for some powerhouse European teams.
If i would rank the world basketball stratosphere, i will set it by continent (exclude the US on this) and i'm basing this through the viewing that i did the past decade (since 2000) till present day.
Europe
South America (Argentina/Mexico)
*Oceania/Africa
Asia/Middle East
*Oceania is compose of Australia and New Zealand and by the time the Rio Olympics end, Oceania and the whole Asian region will merge and will call "Asia Pacific". This is my thought, instead of 2 slots for Asia and 1 slot for Oceania (Fiba World and Olympics) they will grant it to 4 slots and it will be very difficult for us, first the competition behind it and the other will be the schedule of the PBA, it will be divided and its gonna be a Home-and-Away competition just like the soccer game.

He has dual citizenship.

Hehe.

SBP names Gilas’ lineup to FIBA Asia Challenge
After slugging it out in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup Finals, the key players of Phoenix and Tanduay will now have to be as one as they play for the Three Stars and a Sun.
Five players from the Accelerators, the eventual champions, and two more from the Rhum Masters, the runners-up, headline the “Final 12” of “Gilas 5.0” heading to Tehran for the FIBA Asia Challenge next month as announced by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Friday.
Mike Tolomia, Ed Daquioag, RR Pogoy, Mac Belo, and Russel Escoto made the cut among the Phoenix players, while Kevin Ferrer and Fonzo Gotladera are the Tanduay players in the final lineup alongside a former teammate, Von Pessumal, who opted to spend the Foundation Cup off.
Joining the eight aforementioned players are Cafe France-CEU’s Carl Cruz, Racal’s Chris Javier, Lyceum’s CJ Perez, and former D-League player Arnold Van Opstal, who, like Pessumal, sat out the season-ending conference. In fact, Van Opstal, who last played for Cebuana Lhuillier, did not play the entire 2016 season.
Josh Reyes will handle the Gilas squad going to the FIBA Asia Challenge, which serves as a qualifier for the FIBA Asia Cup next year.
