Help with manually setting DNS for PLDT wifi modem; might have missed something

  • Had to reset our PLDT wifi modem (ProLink PRS1241B) due to a lost int. connection issue and was able to complete the wizard, wlan setup, etc.
Int access is back now but I wanted to see if I could set up Cloudflare's DNS on it.

The interface looked straightforward enough (Wizard/Fast Config > WAN connection settings > DNS settings) and after going through it then saving, i checked the DNS status and it does show as Manual w/ the apt DNS servers (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1) Both my laptop and phone (Android) were able to reconnect to our wifi.

I then checked my laptop's (Win 10) DNS (wifi) and apparently it didn't reflect the DNS server's from the wifi modem and was still on 192.168.1.1 (DNS was set to auto)

I checked my phone's DNS thru whatsmydnsserver.com (didn't have time to lookup and use an app but feel free to suggest an alternative on this) and it was on 66.249..82.103.

I'm open to suggestions on what else to try if this is actually possible on this wifi modem.
  • @OP

i have that modem (though d na ginagamit since fibr na kami)

I can speak for android, though (manomano yan, android -> wifi -> settings ng wifi na kinoconnect mo -> static ip 192.168.ewan.ewan , default gateway = ip ng modem/router mo , DNS 1.1.1.1). may ibang paraan cguro but this works.

(i cannot guarantee since mmya pa uwe but i'll check page mismo ung sa DNS)
(also, try ipconfig/release + ipconfig/renew sa pc mo)

edit [1] : look around for the page that has 2-3 entries for DNS. yan yun.

(new user).

    Steps ko so far:
    -Power cycle wifi modem ulit
-Winsock reset. flushdns then reboot PC
-Release and renew IP sa PC

Aside from that and DDNS wala akong nakita (still triple checking)

  • outside of VPN apps (like 1.1.1.1 sa google playstore) manomano lang tlga pag android (ayaw gumana ung 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com)

(ignore the IP addresses besides the DNS, network mo yan so 192.168.1.1 ung gateway, and 192.168.1.x ung ip mo)

Yup, tama ung DNS settings sakin.

Cloudflare or Google DNS sa mobile (might be wrong on this).
