Do-It-Yourself Laptop and Notebook Upgrading, Modding and Repairing

  • Hello po guys ask ko lang suggestion

My laptop ako Asus N550jk, 5 years old na , so last month nagkaproblema sya related sa power on/off .

  • help needed po for laptop charger compatibilty
may toshiba satellite a200-1m6 ang bro ko..problem is nasira ang charger but wala na yun written specs under the original charger..sa bottom ng laptop, written specs are 19v 3.4A..asked an on line dealer, suggest niya for A200 are 19v 3.95A at 19v 4.72A..any suggestion po?
  • @jomadaza

Either will be fine, since they have higher ampere rating than is required by the laptop.

Personally, if the prices are the same, I'd choose the 19v 4.72A one.

  • laptop around 30-45k lang sana na good for gaming

I'll never recommend a laptop for gaming.
  • I'll never recommend a laptop for gaming.

because of the budget or you just won't?

Repair/upgrade costs. When a desktop GPU breaks down, it's just a matter of replacing the card. In a gaming laptop, you'll end up having to replace the entire system board, which costs at least half the laptop itself-- not very practical, to be honest.
  • saan po kaya shop na pwedeng pa reballing/resolder ng laptop., w/ power sya but not booting anymore. preferrably monumento area or accessible sana via lrt.
    btw, laptop is Gaterway NV53
    tia

  • Guys,

May marerecommed kayo na shop for 13 inches LCD replacement ng Dell? May black lines na kasi. Ayaw ko bumili ng bago since i3 Haswell 2014 model pa naman and gamit ko lang mainly for documents and surfing the net.

    Thanks
  • mahal kaya paayos pag yung sira ay ayaw mag on at may amoy sunog?
  • matik palit motherboard yan sir.
  • matik palit motherboard yan sir.

  • @billbob

It depends on the age of the laptop. After the Haswell generation, all laptop CPUs are soldered to the system board, even the Core i7 quad-cores.

Regarding the RAM, it depends on the model as well. Some have one or two RAM slots, some only have soldered RAM, and a few have a small amount of soldered RAM (4GB) and 1 RAM slot for expansion.
  • What model is your Asus laptop?

-- edited by awakeruze on Mar 13 2018, 11:01 AM

  • Y410p? It's the one with the quad-core Haswell i7 right? the CPU is probably removable.

    yup, haswell.
  • ^ A friend of mine needed a board replacement for his brother's laptop, and the shop in Gilmore said it would cost around 18k, so I think it's the usual price. :(
    hehe
